It's not really necessary to attack Bob anymore... I forgive him. I appreciate everyone's support regarding my sister.
You don't have to feel responsible for the animus displayed here towards bob. He's spent a long time carefully nurturing that animus through his obnoxious and narcissistic behavior.
It has never been refuted. Ray, who later became a prominent Smithsonian archaeologist, writes: "[I]t seems likely that horses were present on the Yucatan Peninsula in pre-Maya times." Although that statement seems rather broad, it would put horses on the peninsula as late as 800 B.C. or so.
It is difficult under any circumstance to pinpoint horses during the Mayan period. The Mayans had no written language, per Dr. Coe, but their glyph system of abstract communication in a rudimentary system does not seem to contain glyphs of horses.
I also find it a little unethical that he asked your permission to email your family regarding your post here, and yet, he had actually already done it. I mean, really, what was the point?
Yes, this is the part that got under my skin. My family didn't need to see a post that I meant to be annonymous.
I think you know otherwise what the truth is here.
Sending the post to GoodK's family was a real 'dickhead' move, Bob.
"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."
-- Mike Quinn, writing of the FARMSboys, in "Early Mormonism and the Magic World View," p. x (Rev. ed. 1998)

If my posting privileges get revoked, I don't care. I probably spend too much time on here anyway.
This stuff needs to deescalate. Nobody should be harmed as a consequence of posting here.
Ya, sometimes we say things out of anger. Needless to say, I won't be posting any personal information.
Yeah, don't do that. Just let it be blatant how hypocritical he is that he's all about transparency, but he won't post this information himself.
Bob, come to DC dear. Let me know when you'll be here. I'll welcome you as best I can.
I have an office in DC and am there all the time.
When you say "he won't post this information himself," what are you talking about? What information would you like.

Now this actually is funny.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
beastie wrote:This is totally in line with bob's personality and agenda. He is arrogant and presumes the right to interfere, uninvited, in the lives of other people. By his own admission, he's told people in real life to leave the church, because their beliefs or attitudes did not suit him. He uses the fact that people sensibly post anonymously as an excuse to treat them as if they're not "real" people, and just characters in a game. He has falsely accused posters of malicious actions. in my opinion, he is a malicious individual.
I agree! This was very malicious! It's actually rather scary, imho, that he did this. Was this out of concern? Why? Why do people do this? I can't comprehend people in the Church saying they're looking out for one another. It gives me the creeps!
I'll tell you what, if some person interfered in MY LIFE and contacted my family about me I'd be going ballistic! I don't understand the mentality that others can interfere and it's a-okay. Surely GoodK's family is aware of her/his issues with the Church. And if they're not it's not up to anyone else to inform them.

Simple. If one is acting in the name of God, then anything goes.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Oh, shoot... I missed this post. Not paying very good attention to the board... Sorry!
If you forgive him, then I do too! :)
You are wonderful :)
I do forgive him, because deep down I know he is a good guy. He just doesn't play one very well online.
I think Bob and Loran just feel a bit more defensive than average given the nature of many discussions here. I am positive they are both good people. Some people are just high strung so we love them anyway.

I can safely leave the horses to Beastie. But ... the Mayans had no written language? And "per Dr. Coe"?
[O]ur knowledge of ancient Maya thought must represent only a tiny fraction of the whole picture, for of the thousands of books in which the full extent of their learning and ritual was recorded, only four have survived to modern times (as though all that posterity knew of ourselves were to be based upon three prayer books and 'Pilgrim's Progress')." (Michael D. Coe, The Maya, London: Thames and Hudson, 4th ed., 1987, p. 161.)
How can we take seriously anything this man says about Mesoamerica after that?
And as for this phrasing: "their glyph system of abstract communication in a rudimentary system" - what could it possibly mean? This man looks as if he needs to take remedial writing 101. Since he is a lawyer, and can presumably write if he tries, I can only conclude that he is just a bit rattled, and is doing the keyboard equivalent of babbling.
