I like Brant, but my respect for him eroded a bit after catching in twice making deliberately misleading statements. Ben McGuire is also one of my favorites, although I don't share a common interest with him. I like Paul Osbourne, too, for his honesty. Katherine the Great is, well, great. I always hesitate to rave about her too much, though, because that probably lessens her "cred" on the MAD board, but she seems to be unflinchingly honest and above spin. She shouldn't post here, though, it would turn the MADdites against her, and they desperately need her voice of reason.

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

To me, it's like being shown into a room with several piles of dog crap on the floor, all slightly different in one respect or another, and my escort asks me, "Which one is your favorite?"
I don't know about you, but I don't really care for dog crap.
If you don't like apologists....why are you coming to a board that attracts them? To extend your analogy, why do you keep coming into the room with several piles of dog crap on the floor?
It's entirely possible to enter a room where there are piles of dog crap on the floor. What is unacceptable is to then leave the room, doing nothing about the dog crap. Bad Form. Very Bad Form.

Nehor, you certainly are a favorite on the MADB board. I don't know if you saw it...I think it was a thread in the social forum--a number of posters were saying that you hadn't been there in a while and they missed you.
I don't have a "favorite". Off the top of my head: I like to read Lachoneus' posts. Mike Reed (yes--I know you aren't an apologist anymore, but you discuss one of my favorite topics--the Cross, so I always read your stuff.) Katherine the Great--she IS the voice of reason on MADB. I used to read RayA. when he posted because he discussed another favorite topic of mine--near death experiences. I also used to read Paul Osborne when he posted because of his knowledge of the Book of Abraham, but I haven't seen him around here and he left MADB ages ago.
I'll have to go look at the other board to refresh my memory. I know there are many others.

Doctor Steuss wrote:Goodk’s comment about Sorenson in another thread got me to wondering what LDS “apologist” does each person likes the most. My personal favorite is Kevin Barney with Brant Gardner bringing up a close second.
What about you? Who do you respect/like the most in the LDS “apologetic” community (if anyone)?
I like Kevin Barney as well. We actually spoke over email for several weeks discussing the Bible. He is a very nice guy. He impressed me when he said if he wasn't Mormon he would be an atheist. I still think about that comment...

Some folks over at CARM and RFM would say that I am still an apologist. Others at FAIR would call me an anti-Mormon. I'd say that I am some where in between. I no longer believe the Church to be true, but in many ways Mormonism remains my "culture club"... and therefore it still has a special place in my heart. Regarding my research on the cross... I am glad that you are interested in it. When my thesis is finished, I suspect that both critics and apologists will find some information in it to support their cause. It will be interesting to see how it is selectively quoted (if at all).

Mike, this is off-topic, but did you see on the Missionaries thread at MADB--you, MBeesly and Pahoran were told to get out of the thread and you were the only one who complied. Nemesis threatened them with suspensions so hopefully they'll comply. That's one of my pet peeves--LDS posters on MADB who flaunt the rules thinking they are above them. I'm glad Nemesis didn't ignore their participation--I thought the mods might look the other way.
I think some of the posters at CARM, RFM and MADB don't know what to make of you. They think if you aren't LDS, you should be attacking the church, and if you don't, you're falling down on the job! Some at MADB, regardless of what the poster says, automatically react negatively and defensively, if they know the poster has left the church.

How about an undershirt with a compass and square on it?Doctor Steuss wrote:liz3564 wrote:You're an apologist? Sorry, Steuss! In that case, you definitely make my list of faves, too!
Nothing against you Liz, but to hell with being on a list of faves. I want my damn coffee mug (or T-shirt, or flogging, or whatever it is I get with the position).
If I don’t get my comeuppance for being an apologist, I’m quitting (I've heard that the Anti's have better health-care...)
With matching long underpants?

There you go Moniker, it looks like I am an apologist (I better get a coffee mug or something...).
Okay, well you are definitely on my list -- I make a mean banana bread... no coffee mugs to spare. Sorry.
I didn't even think about asbestosman being an apologist. He's a favorite too! I just think of everyone as posters, and sort of forget what's going on, I guess. Or it could be that I just don't care that much.... :)
