To me, it's like being shown into a room with several piles of dog crap on the floor, all slightly different in one respect or another, and my escort asks me, "Which one is your favorite?"
I don't know about you, but I don't really care for dog crap.
If you don't like apologists....why are you coming to a board that attracts them? To extend your analogy, why do you keep coming into the room with several piles of dog crap on the floor?
A possible Some Schmo answer:
I think dog crap is bad stuff to have on the floor where people might tread on it. So I try to clean it up, and to discourage further deposits.
Of course, that is only an ill-educated guess on my part.
This is a fair response, and it occurs to me that I do find myself in the business of trying to clean up dog crap here from time to time. But a more accurate answer would be that this board attracts more than just apologists. I don't come to the board for the dog crap. If I wanted to wade hip-deep through crap, I'd tunnel into MAD. Now you know why I don't.
Sometimes I step around the crap while looking at the good stuff here; other times I take a turn cleaning some up.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

So, if we stretch this analogy as far as it will go I am wandering around the room defecating at random?

I thought about going last Sunday (I even took a shower), that should count for something, shouldn't it? Besides, my home teachers bring Church to me. Once a month should suffice.

That's right. The experiment failed. Although I will admit that it took longer to fail than I was initially anticipating.
FOCUS:
My favorite apologist is, hands-down, DCP. Why? Because of A) his rapier wit, which makes him a very good read even if he's advocating a position with which I disagree, and B) his ability to catch flaws in his opponents' thinking. Whenever I disagree with him on something and make it known, I know I have to have all my ducks in a row, 'cause he'll surely call me out otherwise.
I always appreciate someone who can keep me on my toes, no matter which side of "the fence" he or she may be on.

Nemesis threatened them with suspensions so hopefully they'll comply. That's one of my pet peeves--LDS posters on MADB who flaunt the rules thinking they are above them. I'm glad Nemesis didn't ignore their participation--I thought the mods might look the other way.
I was pleased to see that Pahoran and MBeesley got the hammer too. Lucky for me, the Moderators seem to cut me some slack (thereby making it a more level playing field for me), even though I am an ex-mo. Maybe a couple of them know me from when I was on the FAIR list... and know that I am not an anti-Mormon, or the asshole that I sometimes may appear to be (when some narrow-minded cyber-bully like Pahoran pisses me off).
I think some of the posters at CARM, RFM and MADB don't know what to make of you. They think if you aren't LDS, you should be attacking the church, and if you don't, you're falling down on the job! Some at MADB, regardless of what the poster says, automatically react negatively and defensively, if they know the poster has left the church.
Yeah. I am glad that there are more level-headed and friendly people like you to converse with. It means a lot to me.
I definitely have to jump on the Kevin Barney bandwagon, and I'm a big Paul Osborne and David Bokovoy fan, too. Runners-up: Kerry Shirts has a great personality, and Kevin Christensen and Ben McGuire are really smart.
I really like David too... in fact I just may love him (in a purely manly kick each other in the groin and laugh while killing stuff kind of way). It's a bummer he's given up on the apologetic stuff... but then again, maybe him taking time off will help him gain new (and better[?]) insights. I have his Testaments book (that he did with Tvedtnes), but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.
