Jessop’s last appearance at his mo'tab job was three days after the Peter and Mary Danzig story was printed. Then came the one from the spin docs on LDS.org.
Palmer? Remember he took his story to the public? So did Danzig. Perhaps LDS Inc did not want another publicity snafu and this was a preemptive strike? Especially with someone who MANY older Mormon members revered and respected.

People going through situations that they characterize as a "crossroads" with respect to the LDS Church generally tend to find their way online to support/discussion groups one way or the other.
