Coming to church a little drunk.

Post by _karl61 »

Those in authority would say it is important to come to Church sober. The full force of fear can be used only when sober. But those who come with a few drinks in their system may giggle in the pew when sister so and so gets up again for testimony meeting. I guess the Church is afraid of a few outward bursts coming from Brother Johnson who is known to be more truthful after a couple of vodkas

By the way - what is your favorite mixed drink. I'm just beginning and I am mixing brandy with "energy" drinks. I don't like the taste of real strong alcohol so I need to mix it with something.

A good place to start is to mix whiskey with either Sprite or Coke ( a 7 and 7 or a Jack & Coke). Also, it is not too girly. :)

Captain Morgan's spiced Rum and diet Coke
Jim Beam whiskey and diet Coke
Margarita on the rocks, no salt
Gin martini

...and of course, an ice cold White Russian: that's vodka, Kaluha, and milk

I've grown to like red wine over the years but I'm still too much of a barbarian to name a favorite. Someday when I'm rich I'll get into that, maybe.

I hardly ever drink beer anymore. Too filling.

Man, I keep trying to like it, but I just can't do it!

The more I have it, the more I like it. I'd take a beer over a glass of wine 99 times out of 100.

But you've been at it a lot longer than I have. I suppose I might flip flop down the line sometime. But for now, I can have 2 beers with dinner, and get a sweet buzz going. lol.

When I drank, I found that simple mixed drinks were good. Like rum and coke, kaluha and cream, three fingers of dark tequilla straight up with a sidecar of club soda. Of course nothing beats a Moscow Mule if done right. I don't even recognize the names of many popular mixed drinks today and I feel better for that.

In my single days, I always enjoyed ordering some drinks from an attractive cocktail waitress and watch her response...like:

"I'd like (a) sex-on-the-beach;" or a "wet ... well, you know; or a "slippery-n........."

Yeah man, you and me both. I don't know how my wife loves that wretched stuff so much. Give me a beer any day... well, if I'm going to drink anything at all, which usually ends up being no more than five occasions a year. And of course, if I'm going to drink, I'll be puffing on a cigar or two as well.

Whiskey and coke is my cocktail of choice.

Alcohol is for wimps. Real adults like me use fermented alcohol because it's doubly-fermented. My best mixer is to combine fermented alcohol with bread, or maybe chips and salsa.

You fellas don't know what you're missing. A good cabernet is my favorite, but I also love a good pinot noir.

Now we're talkin! As my wine tastes have matured (and it took about 5 years of dabbling with the sweet wines...), my fave today are the Sonoma red Zins. My fiance and I go to a little B&B in Healdsburg, CA a few times a year for wine tasting. It's magical!
