Is human conscience proof that there is a God?

I don't think so, though, if I remember right, Dartagnan seemed to say so on another thread.

The reason why there's no reason to suppose that a divine creator is the most plausible explanation for the existence of an innate moral sense is that this moral sense is manifestly adaptive, and seems connected to our identities as social beings and our abilities to live within groups. Conscience, in other words, has an obvious and solid evolutionary rationale.

Why then should it be supposed to be evidence for a much less Occamic theory of human development?

Good reads on this: Shermer's "The Science of Good and Evil", Wilson's "The Moral Sense", and Hauser's "Moral Minds".
