Simple: fear. I doubt MADboard owners want church leadership to know who they are, since they aren't exactly prime examples of LDS people, and they have an over-inflated concept of their importance.

Incorrect. The Church pays for the operation of this site indirectly. Officially unofficially.

I'm going to start up a business, a store. I'm going to put a sign on my store that declares anyone who enters has to spend at least 150,000 dollars. I'm going to make a lot of money in lawsuits, right? LOL

I just called this ph# from Whois Record for Mormonapologetics.org
Registrant Phone:+1.4252740657
It answers with a recording that says "who is privacy protect" those four words are spoke by what sounds like a very young twenties male voice. The mail box is full so you can't leave a message they for sure always keep it full so no messages are left and most likely keep a record of caller IDs which call there. No tin foil hat here - one just knows that this is what they are doing.

What's so hilarious is the rather amazing dance routine that all the mods engaged in. Honestly, what are they so afraid of? The Church, or the SCMC? Why aren't any of these supposedly brave, stalwart TBMs willing to step forward and lay claim to the "bastion of righteousness" that is MAD?

They have no fear of the Church as that is who is somehow paying indirectly for their bandwidth and servers etc. It has to be this way that the Church pays the tab in order so that the Church can have the right to the last word if they feel strongly about a policy or the guidance or who is in guidance position thereof. This only stands to reason. They have to have the ability to can someone and replace them from running the site if the need arises. They have this all figured out. I strongly believe that their physical location of the servers is up here in Bellvue/Seattle area.

So, a number of interesting questions were raised in this thread, I think. Chief among them is this: Who is "MAD"? Is it a real, legitimate organization of some kind? Why, at heart, are the MADmods so apparently terrified that they'll be "discovered"? Why aren't they willing to declare ownership of this messageboard? Further, what does this lack of accountability do to their claims concerning copyright, and legal legitimacy?

Bob Crockett would call them anonymous cowards for not making such a disclosure. However, as we on this very board have pointed out many times, there is safety to be found in anonymity. Can't fault them for that.

However, their fear of disclosure would render any of their copyright warnings - even if they were valid - moot.

That question can be answered with a simple fill in the blank exam. What word (possibly slightly modified for plurization) fills all these blanks?

The MAD Mods, by their very nature as double anonymity sockpuppet masters, are _________.

The American ________ willow is a willow native to the Northern USA.

The _______cat Dolls are an American pop and R&B quintet.

_____ Galore was the famous pilot Bondgirl from Goldfinger who double-cross the villian from which the movie title was derived.

Meh. Who cares? It's obviously a private effort to defend their cult. I wonder if some day their claims of "copyright" will come back to haunt them if their church wants to distance itself from that site...

In other words, you have nothing to shows the church is involved, let alone pays, for the site at all.

Dang.
