F&T Sunday

Post by _msnobody »

I thought you only fasted for the first two meals of the day. Can someone please clarify for me?

P.S. I just progressed to Valiant B. At this rate, I'll be twice GBH's age when I get into the priesthood.

In an effort to further homogenize the ward buildings, and make them even more sterile and industrial and endlessly boring, the church, at least in my area, determined to make the landscaping the same around all the buildings. Without consulting any of the women, a landscaping company was hired and, unbeknown to me or any of the other sisters who regularly worked in the flower beds, they pulled out a huge bed of peonies I had purchased and planted myself. They were gorgeous! All our hard work was destroyed and our plants discarded. It wasn't one flower bed. It was all of them. And the evergreen trees we planted, which had grown tall and beautiful, well, they cut them down, too. I hated that.

Hi, Ms. Nobody.

You're right, it was two meals.

The idea, at least from what I understood, was to go twenty-four hours without eating. We did that by going from supper on Saturday night to supper on Sunday night.

When I was a kid, so did we. Only we had supper at around 2:00, or right after church (whichever was later). Of course, I had low blood sugar so was "excused" from fasting quite often. Yay me!

The things I hated most?

Wearing dresses/skirts to church and dances.
I never wore dresses otherwise. Hated them. And the corollary - wearing pantyhose with said dresses.

Fugly brick chapels.
That's the best they could do? Really?

Early morning seminary.
Waking up each morning at 4:45 to get to seminary on time. 'Nuff said.

2 1/2 minute youth talks in sacrament.
Most were lame. And I hated having to give them (not helped by the fact that my mom made me memorize them - no reading off of notebook paper for me).

That one lady who sat behind me every week and sang really loud, really high, and really off-key.
Every ward has one of these, right?

And I'm totally with KA on the dirge-tempo hymns. I wanted to scream at the chorister to get that stick moving faster, or at least give the organist a good dose of No-Doz to pep things up.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Please. Would you like some cheese with that whine?

When you have pushed out half a dozen kids and have one more on the way, suffer from hemorrhoids because of it and have an ass full of Preparation H, like half those women in Relief Society, then you can have a padded chair, too. ;)

KA

Awww phooey!! 95% of the Relief Society women had padding to spare on their asses, while 95% of the men had no asses!! ;)

(Note: I'm sure you're in the 5% that had/has a sculpted, chiseled ass)

I don't think you understand what she's talkin' about, Scottie. I shall not pursue it!

- Three hours. Are you kiddin' me?? During football season this is sheer torture.

- Correlation equals boring, uninformed, and a usefully stupid congregant. I'm always surprised that Mo's are surprised that they didn't know x-y-z. Of course they were uninformed; it's intentionally designed to keep them that way.

- Brainwashed parents.

- Teachings on sexuality, masturbation creating unnecessary self-loathing.

- Seminary. Jeeeeeeeeeeesus.

- Ridiculous music. Bland. Boring.
