Re: I can't hide the truth any longer
I would also like to come out and admit I started going to church again. Charity's posts here made a lot of sense. I felt the spirit when I read her posts. After watching her win debate after debate with the critics I couldn't deny it any longer. The church must be true. I've started the repentence process with my bishop. If I atttend all my meetings, pay a full tithing, accept any calling given to me, magnify that calling, and perform member missionary work in between my home teaching assignments and missionary splits, the bishop thinks I can be back in full fellowship within a year. Then, we will start working toward getting me temple worthy. I'm so excited.

Though it may seem to be a harmless April Fool's joke, simply going through the motions like that plants a good seed in your mind that may sprout into faith in what the LDS Church teaches (or a cannabis plant or a field of poppies, you can't be too sure...)
Yeah, we all know that "bearing your testimony" even when you don't have one will result in you gradually believing what you say. It's like self-brainwashing. It certainly is standard in the church.
Now if I just repeat over and over, preferably to others, "I DO believe in magic rocks, I DO believe in magic rocks, I DO believe in magic rocks", one day I, too, can be an LDS apologist.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

BC, I hope you have also warned the putative William Schryver about the effects of "going through the motions". I'd say that he has planted quite a few good seeds in his mind.

And yet we seem to have this same mindset amng your kind going the other direction; that if one would just stop living the gospel or 'cut loose' then one will loose one's testimony of the Church.
