I agree with The Dude. I think that Will will eventually apostatize. He just doesn't know it yet. Or perhaps he does, but just won't admit it to himself. It takes a "special" kind of person to know as much as he does about the church and the evidence pro and con, and yet maintain belief indefinitely. I think he's a little too free-thinking in his approach, and that will eventually doom his faith.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

But if he is, and if he really did decide to leave Mormonism, he would do it without fanfare, and without any lame and labored attempt to justify himself in the eyes of the two camps doing battle in the bloggernacle. He would simply drive away from the church one day, wave goodbye to the steeple in his rearview mirror, put Eddie on the stereo and sing along:

Suuuuure you would, cuz everyone knows you're not an attention White House*re or anything....

All it takes is someone who thinks a world without magic rocks would be a boring place to live. In other words, someone who prefers fantasy to reality.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

William Schryver wrote:I voted "I don't care." And I would hope that is the winning category. Otherwise I will be sorely disappointed in the Shadyville community.

Besides, I'm not even convinced that Will Schryver is a real person.

Of course that's what the church wants apostates to do. They want to be free to insinuate that people leave only because of their desire to sin or their guilt deriving from their inability to stop sinning.

As long as apostates "leave without fanfare, and without any lame and laboured attempt to justify [themselves]" then the church will be free to keep up the illusion that nobody ever leaves because of valid historical and doctrinal issues.
