I've never fantasized about my girlfriends either. How odd. :/
I watched a bit of that show one time. Why would anyone go on a show that could destroy their marriage, their reputation, etc... For money? It's so ludicrous. I just turned it off and haven't watched it since.
~edited to change "friends" to "girlfriends"~~

Re: Mormon couple on Moment of Truth
Absolutely. I have seen this hundreds of times over the last three years. Mormonism teaches adult Mormons to choose the Cult over a loved one. When the so-called "loved one" realizes the Mormon Cult is nothing more than an absolute CULT, the spouse chooses the Cult and begins divorce proceedings.
While I understand that because of the heavy emphasis on a temple marriage that will last and take one to the celestial kingdom can create a culture where the spouse may choose the religion over an inactive spouse and seek a divorce, and I understand that some bishops give horrible counsel on such things (which flies in the face of instructions to bishops that they are not to recommend divorce-a couple is to decide that for themselves) I do nto think the LDS Church teaches "Mormons to choose the Cult over a loved one." I challenge you to find teachings from any GA, scripture or other LDS source that teaches this.

Oh my - that's no defense. That's a confession of guilt!
I haven't watched this show, and I won't. Sounds like one of the worst instances of encouraging pleasure at the expense of someone's pain (usually the spouse or family member caught unawares, if the reviews of the show are to be believed).

They must have had a change of heart. At first the thread was closed and locked with no comments. But perhaps a particular mod was trigger happy and the other mods overruled him/her. Now it appears to be open.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Oh, don't misunderstand me. I KNOW that many bishops counsel members to divorce over apostasy. What I haven't seen evidence of is that bishops are instructed by the Lords on High - GAs - to do so. I think the bishops are doing so because they're the produce of the same culture that this young woman is the culture of. Do you have evidence that bishops are instructed to do this?
Certainly he does not. Because there is no such instruction and in fact I would dare say there is instruction in the opposite. Bishops ARE TOLD AND TAUGHT NOT TO RECOMMEND DIVORCE. They are to work with a couple through difficult issues and then let them make the decision.
But I think the core reason they do this is because they genuinely believe that the apostasy of a spouse endangers the eternal welfare of the faithful spouse and the entire family. Of course the practical application of this faith involves power, money and control, but religious fanaticism is at the core of it all.
And I readily concede that due to the culture the comes from the deep seated beliefs about marriage and heaven that this can be a result. Some bishops give bad advice. And some get poor or little training. I wish the Church would train its local leaders better.

I've never even heard of Breaking Bad. I saw a promo for the finale of the Newlywed Show -- some sort of competition.... it looked rather strange. Then right after that I saw a promo for a give away show with Oprah -- never heard of it!
I evidently don't watch enough television.

Seems like the mods have their collective cranky pants on over there:

We aren't interested in pages of complaining and insulting and we aren't interested in every weird thing a Mormon does that gets in a newspaper just because it is bad. If you are asked for documentation GIVE IT or stop arguing and get out of the thread. A bunch of posters better clean it up super fast or hit the cyber road.

Not that MDB is importing MADB's ludicrously-paranoid moderating style. I just have come to expect MDB to avoid all appearance of evil in this regard.
I agree wholeheartedly with Chris, here.
As my grandmother used to say with reference to sticky situations, "Crap on a crutch."
Eww. To my knowledge, my granny never said anything like that. Just sayin'.
She did tell me to keep my skirt down and my panties up, though.
Also, I find it ironic that the Mormon woman on the television show would pose nude for $100,000, but would leave her husband if he were no longer Mormon. Weird.
