Being a moderator

Post by _GoodK »

I have been lurking over at CARM the last two days, and I clicked the link : Do you want to volunteer at CARM?

Oddly enough, you have to subscribe to the "CARM Statement of Faith" to be an unpaid moderator:

http://www.carm.org/index/statement.htm

I literally laughed out loud when I clicked the link.

I wonder if Shades has any Statement of Faith for his moderators...

The mods here have to be mini-mes of Shades.

So, who is in your avatar?

Yes, we have pledged to moderate this board EXACTLY as Shades would. We gave up any free will of our own. :)
If there's one thing I've learned from this board, it's that consensual sex with multiple partners is okay unless God commands it. - Abman

I find this place to be hostile toward all brands of stupidity. That's why I like it. - Some Schmo

I decided, since the cat is effectively out of the bag in regards to my identity and I am no longer an "anonymous coward", I put a pic of myself.

Good. Free will is an enormous hoax, anyway.

Heh. Cute.

Well, I'm still an anonymous coward, yet, I do post pics of myself, at times... mainly so people are reminded that I don't take this place too seriously. Or, perhaps, to remind myself of that... ;P

A statement of faith? Not really. I did offer up a private oath (I can post it if you wish, it's not sacred or anything) and a public psalm to Shades as follows:

I am but a powerless tool
A cog in a wheel
I will not think

I will not launch a full scale delete of PP and all his variants
I will not say F and S ever again on MDB*
Lest I become a moderating hypocrite

I will stuff myself into the box that thou hast created for me
And do as I am told
I will leave my brain outside of the box

I am a mere clone of Shades
I can do nothing without Shades for he leadeth me
I am nothing without Shades who thinketh for me

In the name of the pug, the pirate and the monkey brain that moveth upon the keyboard

Your humble servant,
Jersey Girl

*At the outside chance that I actually do say F and S again on MDB, I will eventually * it out as per the 300 page Moderator's Manual. I am, before all else, a Jersey Girl.

I think everyone shoud both remain anonymous cowards and post pics of their real faces as their avatars/or somewhere, sometime on the board.

Though now that I think of it, I think I've already seen what most of the people look like that I'm curious about...

Thanks, Blixa, just thanks. ;-) You've never seen my picture and now you've anhilated what's left of my self esteem all in one line. I don't think it's about being an anonymous coward, it's about being intelligent enough to know that there are predators and bullies afoot.

'nuff said.

OMG>>>SORRY!!! Heh. For some reason your countenance didn't swim into my ken as I nano-second flipped through a roster of boardites, seeing only the names of total creep-outs flash by my mind mirror.

I shouldn't post in such a flippant mood, apparently. And of course I'm only joking about people "revealing" themselves. I hope you know I argue for caution in such matters.

(Its funny, earlier today I was looking for something unrealted and ended up perusing a lot of Mormon/exmormon-related bbs's that I never look at and I ran across a photo of someone here that I've always been curious about. So that's what made me inclinded to think that all had been revealed, as it were.)
