The difference (48,123) is due to deaths and to people being excommunicated and to people removing their names from the records of the Church (leaving the Church). The total membership number includes people are are completely inactive and with unknown addresses who would prefer to have their names removed from the records of the Church.

According to church numbers their death rate is 373.9 per 100,000 (48,123/ 12,868,606 ) and that is assuming all 48,123 were deaths. If some percentage were in fact people who were excommunicated/ had names removed then the mortality rate would be even lower.
Wow, the church finally hit .2% of the world population. That's .002, fyi.

The church probably doesn't even know where 1/2 of its members are. They'll just keep them on the books till they hit 120 years old.

I suspect the Church has a pretty good idea where alot of their "members" are.. in the cemetery.
