First, went to your Wink link. Did your favourite, nice gentle music. Interesting how music--all art?--transcends religious/politio stuff on the site. There is hope. As for Jeff's move, might the HG have played a role?? ;-) It's demise? In Texas, possibly. But there are other cells throughout the continent. They might well look at this as Babylon attacking THE True "God's" Kingdom??

Did you have a special assignment to bring Wink to the brink of baptism? Otherwise how could you have even been aware of their existance? Like, no radio, no TV, no news papers, no magazines... If not, might that have been an early stage of apostacy?? Kidding of course. Roger

What was the point in moving some people to Texas? I think I heard in one news report that only the most obedient were moved to Texas. One thing I've pondered is whether this was an attempt to help to weed out genetic defects. It makes sense though that the most obedient could have been moved to Texas as the Texas compound (If I'm not mistaken) is the only one with a temple.

Guys, you forget that there are only a few hundred people at the YFZ Ranch. There are like 10,000 FLDS overall, and most of them are probably still in CC/Hilldale.

I embarrassedly admit that I didn't realize that. What with their temple, I thought it was a "new zion" of sorts and that they all had moved--or were all in the process of moving--to the place lock, stock, and barrel.

This doesn't eliminate the children used to propagate the belief system to the next generation. There are plenty of those in CC/Hilldale left.

Dude, if you had been living in Japan in 1990, you simply couldn't help but be exposed to Wink. Their image was plastered EVERYWHERE. Posters, billboards, advertisements--the list goes on. As for TV, well, Japanese folks have a tradition of leaving the TV on 24/7. Anytime you entered a home, whether member or non-, you'd be exposed to whatever was on.

This might be an ignorant question but so long as the LDS Quad exists (specifically D&C), isn't that a way to transmit it to the next generation?

Koresh used the Bible. Why do you think that someone won't use the D&C to perpetuate the doctrine of plural marriage?

Also, what about the children of the ranch? What makes you think that one of them won't rise up and continue the tradition?

Those children above the age of 6-8 will (most of them) be forever locked into the thinking perpetuated by this cult. There is no escape for them, the dye (die?) has been cast.

That was sarcasm. I might have tried it if they'd asked now that I think about it. Would have made a great story later on......

I have no idea if they're being unfairly persecuted. I suspect if they were we'll hear a lot about it in the courts soon.
