If your personal popularity was wanting before today, it is back now. There is good harmony and understanding with others today. Mine talks about my life in the "pre-existence" in one part and my Earthly life in another. Strangely, it never mentions me going on a mission (I didn't) and If I recall correctly it says some things regarding my family life that also rang true. It mentions me and my kids, although I have successfully dodged that bullet so far...
I've heard of people who had really boring PB's, according to the people that I let read mine, it is pretty unique and "powerful".
It also says what tribe you are supposed to be a part of, and probably some other stuff I don't remember. It's been years since I have read it.

Heres a breakdown. the Patriarch states that he is giving the blessing under the authority of his calling and by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood.
He states that this life is filled with opportunities, and the acceptance of various responsibilities will prepare me for greater ones to come.
He states that the Holy Ghost is a vital part, and his comapny will be necessary, and that I should seek him out.
I am to build upon the testimony that I have, and I should learn to recognize the Holy Ghost and learn to use him in conjunction with my testimony to teach others and follow his guidance.
I was blessed with parents who have a testimony, and i shoulds follow their counsel and honor them.
It states the tribe of Israel that I am adopted into.
I was known by the Godhead in the pre-existance and I have a mission to fulfill here on earth, it will be associated with teaching.
I am to be wary of the adversary (Satan)
I am to seek out education, but it will not necessarily be a formal education. I am to seek out the best books, and that the education I receive from the Holy Ghost will be the most important.

My blessing says all kinds of fantastic things, like I would speak with the voice of angels and I would wear the mantle of authority. It has some warnings, about the temptations that would keep me from a mission and the lifetime of disappointment I would receive if I didn't go. (I went, and nobody was surprised.) It says one thing I should never-ever do is let "them" teach me that there is no God. LOL
I would say my patriarchal blessing did nothing to keep me in the church. It's words could be vaguely true for me but I could see how I, or my parents, could construe them as truthful no matter what happened in my life. I could die and get married in the spirit world, right? For veracity, it just wasn't worth anything more than the faith I put into it, and after a point, I didn't want to put faith in the blessing or the church any longer.
It seems the blessings are very sacred to some people, on the level of secret temple names. That's weird that some people get an edited blessing in the mail. I never heard of that. What happens to parts of blessing that the patriarch spoke but decided not to type for the record? Are you just supposed to pretend that bit never happened? Here's an idea: why not chuck out the whole thing? PBs are a first class silly superstition.
