There's not a damn Mormon on here worth engaging with...

??
I really meant what I said.
No comments? Lack of interest? Too hot? Too sacred?
Anyone perceive the value of a pearl or are many of us otherwise engaged in just rending?

Moniker, you don't have bad grammar when you try! You've no choice but to end with a preposition after using the pronoun "that" in your sentence. You could have constructed it differently, more formally, but it's perfectly acceptable the way it is.
by the way, I've never noticed that you have bad grammar. Most of us use poor grammar at times, anyway. I just think it's inadvisable to use poor grammar when one complains that there are no conversation-worthy Mormons on the board.

Oh! Poop! I try soooo hard! :P
I actually had an English professor tell me one time to not fret with grammar, at all. He told me I wrote in a lovely way (he said my prose was poetic) and to completely ignore the "rules" -- I do!
From Winston Churchill: "THAT is something up with which I will not put!"

Is it any surprise that anyone who adheres to it post-Internet doesn't exactly seem like the most rational person on Earth? You have to contort your mind into a million little knots in order to make Mormonism sensible.
not one? Hardly. From a religous standpoint there is plenty that makes sense. Unless you think are religion is nonsensical.

Many self proclaimed Mormons here remind me of Bruce McConkie who reprimanded members for seeking a relationship with Christ.
No he did not do that. One needs to read the whole talk he gave on this. And interestingly enough one should read his song in the hymnal I Believe in Christ. He there calls Christ his God and King. Hardly the words of one who would reprimand people for seeking a relationship with Christ.

You don't really want engagement. You want someone who will think that all of your criticisms of the Church, which are nothing new by the way, are brilliant, and receive ardent applause.
Quit acting like a celebrity. You and Infymus are guilty of the same pompous attitude. Study the board a little bit. If you did that, you would understand where some of the long time posters weigh in, such as Harmony and Moksha. Oh, Moksha is a HE, by the way.
There are plenty of active Church members who have a reasonable grasp on Church issues, and have engaged in meaningful discussions. Harmony, Jason, Moksha, Scratch, Rollo, and I are all active members. We all recognize that there is doctrine of the Church that is ludicrous, and are more than willing to discuss some of these points. We constantly get ridiculed from both sides of the aisle here because we continue to choose to participate in Church for various reasons... family commitment being a number one concern.
Why don't you take a step back and get to know some of us before blustering in and making blanket statements?
And, to be honest, if you can't do that, then don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Ooookay, well, apparently I didn't read Tal's comments the same way others did. I agree with him that the pickings are sort of slim here for current LDS. They are!
I don't desire applause, or anything of the sort and go elsewhere for discussions that I find meaningful and intellectually stimulating -- this is not a criticism of the board or in anyway a reflection of my ego. I'm not saying that there aren't meaningful and stimulating conversations here -- just lately there appear to be less that I'm interested in. That's not the fault of the board, or the posters -- it just doesn't interest me in many ways. Perhaps Tal feels the same way and could find a board better suited for what interests him?
I think Tal has taken quite a bit of ribbing lately over him acting like a celebrity and this time about on the boards I just haven't seen it. If anything there are others that mention his musical career more than he has. I'm glad he's posting as I've enjoyed his threads (even if I'm not posting in them that often) as I find them rather interesting, at times. I appreciate that he's apparently an atheist and yet takes on atheist "dogma" and the 4 horsemen -- that's something that I find quite interesting. So, I think he may take flak from both sides. I'm glad he's posting here.

I actually was not referring to his celebrity status from his music career. I was referring to the celebrity status he seems to feel entitled to as a long time poster on RfM.

There are blatant differences between your approach and his. You have not created a thread basically stating that there are not Church members who post here who are worth your time engaging with. As Harmony pointed out, that's simply rude.
Also, if YOU had created a thread like that, at least as a veteran poster of the board, you have a grasp on the personalities here, and how posters feel about issues. Tal comes in here blazing, thinking that he knows where everyone stands when he clearly doesn't.
I absolutely agree with you. Obviously this board is not suiting Tal's needs, and it would probably be best for him to look elsewhere.
At the same time, if he chooses to change his attitude a bit, I think he might be surprised at some of the rewarding discussions he could have.

1981 as I recall. Yeah he did. I saved a copy of it for many years. It always troubled me. Now it doesn't so much anymore.
Some called Elvis The King.
It didn't mean they had a relationship with him - at least one that he was aware of. Does a relationship equate to having an autograph or being a member of the flying Elvis's? It doesn't to me.
Really, after all I wrote about, is that the only thing of value worth discussing? Was I correct about McConkie? Who really cares?
Where's your heart at, man? Let's talk about the rest of the stuff. Why no interest?

Read the words of the hymn and tell me he does not think having a relationship with Chris it important>

No I do not think you were.

Not sure. I will go back and look at your post.
