FLDS & baby making

Post by _msnobody »

According to one news report, the FLDS young women are to have a baby per year. If this is the case, wouldn't it stand to reason that someone would be monitoring their ovulation in order to impregnate them?

Sheesh. That's practically a form of abuse in and of itself.

I do remember reading somewhere once that in the Mormon days of polygamy, the husbands were only supposed to have sex with their wives if there were a chance of conception. I guess that's why they needed so many wives, so at least one would always be "ready".

Sounds like a farming production.

Immediately after giving birth women's ovulation and cycle is quite screwy. If they're having a baby once a year there's only 3 months for them to be impregnated again. I doubt any sort of checking ovulation or cycle would work at all during those 3 months.

I do wonder if they breastfeed? I know that's not a reliable method of birth control, but in some instances it does seem to make women less fertile for up to 6 months if they're exclusively breastfeeding.

What's tragic is that something has developed that is almost the reverse of the situation in China--female children are being revered to the exclusion of male children, and male children are being driven from the herd in order to protect the balance of there being an abundance of females to males.

Very sad. I don't even want to think about the sex lives involved, which in itself, could be a form of abuse, or at least, neglect.

Actually, last I heard it was the opposite, with girls being sold at birth and males revered.

One could make an argument either way, no doubt. Driving much of the male population out leaves the reverence for a few, and not the many. Treating women like objects instead of partners doesn't really constitute reverence, either.

Glad I'm not FLDS. I could just as easily have been born into that as anything else. Makes being mainstream LDS or born into it look positively attractive.

It's the females that are being put into orphanages -- many Westerners are adopting them. Because of the one child policy only the boys are being kept in the family and in the country.

Big trouble looms.

I hope no one misunderstood my statement, but apparently that seems to be the case. My statement "female children are being revered. . .etc." had to do with the FLDS, not China.

Sorry if that was unclear.
