Beastie, I guess I'm confused as to what you are talking about. Do you have some specific examples? Perhaps that could put some context into the discussion.

Umm, gotta think about that. Not sure I'm comfortable naming names right now. I'll sleep on it.

Does this mean that perhaps it is YOUR perception of LDS/exLDS posters that is the problem, not the posters themselves?

I don't know. But the fact that Jersey Girl and Moniker have noticed the same thing makes me think there is something real behind my perception.

I shouldn't have started a new thread so late at night... getting fuzzy.

Moniker wrote:When there are threads where there is a topic of sexuality some men (you included) will make comments that they are loving the sex talk. Well, I just have to tell you that a man that gets turned on from seeing two women talk about sexuality (like adults) and then comments on it makes me think I just walked into my jr. highschool.

Sorry, it's the truth.

by the way, Mon, my sincerest apologies for the juvenile advances/innuendo I have said to you.

At first I couldn't remember ever saying those things to you, but now I can remember a few chat sessions where my attempts at humor were off color and jr high-ish.

Very sorry.

And, if nothing else, this thread has put some perspective onto my own writing. I will most definitely watch myself from now on.

Edited to add: Apologies extended to any of the female (or male) posters whom I may have offended with any off-color remarks/innuendo.

Scottie, you were never anything but a gentleman, to me. I can't recall you being anything but that.

Beastie should have written "Some" in her thread title. You do flirt and you are invited to flirt with some women on this board. That is quite different than making crewd, lewd, vulgar comments to women about their attributes or their sexuality in order to hurt them. It's apples and oranges.

The flirting is quite juvenile... yet, if it's invited by some women (and it is) then so be it. I think the problem really comes down to is this man making this comment cause he is joking and it was invited or does he think poorly of the woman? I think you definitely fall into the joking category.

But I guess with some people mentioning sex means that sex is wanted....and can never mean sex is unwanted. You can take the person out of the church but can you take that churchy idea that procreation is necessary/good/desired out of the person?

Well, I do desire sexual intimacy - yet, I wasn't looking to hop into bed with any pervert waiting around the MDB corner. :)

*Bond will not respond...although if he was going to respond he would do so in his general self depreciating manner in which he recognizes he's a perverted horndog and his crushes on board personalities are quite healthy and quite harmless as said hotties exist in a different dimension from ole BOnd*

Well, seeing as I've stated numerous times that if you were to total the IQ of the women of this board vs the men, the women would win hands down! It wouldn't even be a fair contest.

(Or course, we have B&L and Merc who are contributing negative IQ points to our side....:) ) <----Note to Shades...SEE HOW UGLY AND CONFUSING THAT SMILIE IS!! Can YOU tell where the smilie starts and the parentheses end??? Give us back our smilies, damnit!!!

Moniker is correct. I have edited the title to say "some".

I did not intend this thread to be a generic condemnation of LDS and exLDS men. It is a trait in SOME of these men, enough to make me notice.

There are many men on this site whom I think are always respectful, and can discuss sex like a grown up. I think of Jason Bourne as a great example. Even though we're on different sides of many issues, I've never felt anything but respect from him, even when sexual issues are being discussed. And others fall into that same category, like sethbag and many others.

And, scottie, I definitely did not have you in mind with my comments.

In fact, it may be that it's actually a small minority who do this, but they tend to taint the whole pool.

It's similar to like when there are a dozen on an elevator...and one person in the back breaks one off on Floor 3 of a 12 Floor ride. Or maybe people would prefer one bad apple spoils the barrel? Is that a better analogy?
