Was the norm where I grew up, but might not have been where you were, or you might be significantly younger than I am.
Where did you grow up? Colorado city?
No.
I don't think it has as much to do with where, as when. I was exposed to Mormons in several states in the western United States growing up, and they all pretty much dressed the same way.
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.

The PBS special, the Republican primary campaign and now the biggest child custody case in US history.
Is Mormonism out for the count the next 15-25 years?
Are you asking if Mormonism is going to cease in the next 15-25 years? As you know it now, yes.
Mormonisms press darling status has been revoked. Salt Lake is in for some rough times. Just because they have the lions share of the Mormon brand will help it survive. members will leave, new crackhead members will be inducted. the elite will close up shop and sell off some land and ride out the storm with cash reserves waiting to pounce. This next generation coming of age will have a higher percentage of deserters as they cross the barrier between something learned as a child and something learned as an adult.

The one good thing that might come from this is that the media is very attentive to the fact that the compound is in Texas. This might put enough of a distinction that it is not the Utah Mormons.
But they are Mormons, Scottie.

Yes they are...according to everyone except the SLC-LDS.

I think you might be onto something here, Merc.
As the "Mormons" get more press, the disturbing history is going to come out. This is going to trouble a great many, many of whom will come to MAD for answers. And we all know how well questioning members are treated there.

SLC-LDS might want to rethink that position. They are as much Mormons as Mormons are Christian.
What you're seeing on the news, Scottie, is mid 1800's with a global news media in place.

Then why do they spend gobs of money proving your point wrong?

Neor, how do you feel about your tithing going to PR firms? If you feel strongly about this, petition salt lake to have this enlightening point of view also practiced. Oh, that's right..you can't address them directly.
