Not you. It's the few bad apples. You're amazing, abman -- and always have been!

I was just making a joke.

Aside from that, moniker brings up another point. Some of this inappropriate behavior is going on "behind the scenes". I think moniker is right, I think some LDS and even exLDS view her as a "fallen woman" of sorts, due to her past as a dancer. Think about it. Many LDS were even taught to view female CONVERTS with some suspicion. much less someone who was an exotic dancer.

Maybe. As for me, I didn't know anything about her past.

And, of course, they suspect she is beautiful, which she is. So, while disdaining her, they still desire her, but are treating her in ways they would never allow anyone to treat their sister, or daughter, or wife.

Again, some may.

It's the same old story. Puritanical obsession with dirty sex and dirty women, combined with feeling superior to women.

But this is a blanket statement. I agree that some fall under this category.

by the way, I want to emphasize how sorry I am that some men now think there might be something wrong with their behavior, when there isn't - like Steuss. That really was not my intent, but is my fault. But it also seems to me that part of the reason men like him AREN'T the problem is that they were willing to evaluate their own behavior to make sure.

I also apologize if I've offended anyone.
One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

I may be closer to realizing it if I was actually 28. But I'm not. Maybe in a few years I'll be closer to realizing it.

As far as acting like an old woman, I don't see the correlation, so I'll have to just take your word for it.

(I'm being agreeable so as not to set you off on another emotional tirade. The fact is, you swim in the mud you're bound to get dirty. That's life.)

Well, the muddiest, nastiest men I've ever met were on this site. What's that say about the fruits of your Church?

Not sure about what it says about the fruits of my Church, but it does tell me something about the kind of message boards you frequent. They must be a pretty clean bunch, they.

Not to mention that you often play along by making sexual jokes yourself. Oh, well. Harassment is only harassment when you don't like the person harassing, it seems.

I make sexual jokes. No denying it. I especially do this with Coggins and LDS that are tossing my supposed impurity in my face. Harassment is when I do NOT ask for it. I actually do like some of the men that acted inappropriately to me. They didn't know any better, quite frankly. That's the way I think of it.

Thanks, but once again I was making a joke. Maybe I should use smilies--you know, the ones Shades killed thanks to Nehor.

I vote we lighten the thread by ganging up on shades and demanding the return of smilies. We could also have some fun beating up nehor to punish him for provoking shades.

And I totally concur with moniker, abman (although that should be asbman, but that just doesn't work). I want to emphasize that there are some really great guys on this site, like you, steuss, sethbag, jason, and many others... I've never seen any of you act disrespectfully at all. I really am kicking myself that I phrased the OP in a way that made you all doubt yourself. I do wish I could take that part back.

The list of great guys would be long! Don't forget cinepro, silentkid, renegade, Tarski, Pokatator, Dude, Richard, Roger, BishopRic, AbFire, Trevor, EAllusion, Gadianton, Canucklehead, etc... etc... The good FAR outweigh the bad.

So, maybe it's just that the few distort the overall picture? I'm not certain.

Don't forget Scottie, Bond, Runtu, and Moksha on that list! :)

I appreciate you clarifying things, Beastie. I have concerns surrounding disrespect which can ruin the tone of the board as well.

I will add something here that will ruin Mr. Schryver's mysoginistic facade. He did apologize to me for the comments he made in the thread you mentioned via PM, and I accepted his apology.

That's the real reason he is doing penance in the Goddess Suite as a boy toy. ;)

Dammit, Shades! We do need real smilies!!! :P

It may be (and yes, agree with that list, and more).

When I went back to find that old Z thread to post here, it was clear that the problem really was ONE poster. But that ONE poster succeeded in tainting the whole thread, for me, at least. It's like Bond said, earlier - all it takes is one fart to stink up the whole elevator.

I think part of that tainting problem is when other posters remain silent. Yet, of course, that silence doesn't mean they approve, but it can feel that way. We all know sometimes speaking out encourages the perpetrator to even more problematic behavior. (see will in the thread above) Yet, to run with the elevator analogy (thanks, bond ;) if someone lets loose in an elevator, and everyone starts whistling and looking at the ceiling, you begin to suspect all of them....

Beastie, you bring up something interesting that I noticed! The silence! That is what bothers me, I think.

When Coggins did a thread about you that was odd and quite nasty Gadianton came to your defense and I quite seriously started to cry -- it was such an overwhelming sight, to me.

The silence is LOUD here. It bothers me.

Yet, it seems lately more people are standing up and telling people to knock it off. Perhaps, we just need more of that?
