Yeah, but the Tanners were identifiable individuals within the US. Wikileaks is not identifiable, not within the US, and may have found the most brilliant loophole possible.

Ah, but Mr. Shipton is an Australian national living in Kenya. Good luck dragging his ass into court. His attorney has represented in federal court that he has no control over the website. And quite frankly, if the US domain gets shut down, there are plenty of mirror sites in Europe. So far, Wikileaks has shown itself to be fringe enough to escape civil law restrictions.

The thing I always found amusing about the CHI was the fact that the Church clearly wanted to keep it hidden away in the shadows. They didn't want people nosing around in it and picking apart the embarrassing bits (such as the material Mercury cited in a separate thread). On the other hand, TBMs (especially MAD-types) go absolutely ballistic when you adduce the CHI as evidence of secrecy within the Church. "It's all over the Internet!" they howl. And yet, would it be online if the Church had its way? No.

Doesn't seem to be a big deal. I've never been turned down when I asked to read the CHI. It's probably a diabolical plot just to get you guys to step into the Church to read it.

Can women read it, too?

I've read most, if not all of that version of the CHI before. Other than such things as Merc posted originally, I didn't see all that much in there that was embarassing or made the church look bad. To be honest, I'm not sure what all the secrecy is about. I don't understand why they don't put the CHI online so all members can read it and understand the authority and power and whatnot that their leaders are supposed to have.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I didn't know the counsellors to the president were also prophets, seers and revelators.

I've wondered the same thing. The CHI is really not that strange. The Church does much more damage by trying to keep it secret and looking as if they have something to hide. The Church is usually its own worst enemy.

Upon hearing year after yeat the legendary myth of Handbook, I decided to print
a copy for myself.
Frankly, as I suspected it is like reading of OSHA manual, full of BS.

Is there anything in here surprising?
I would like to read an interesting part.
Any suggestions?
