LoaP, this is important stuff we're talking about here. It's not useful to play semantic games, change definitions in the middle of a paragraph that no one but yourself could possibly understand, and then act like you're doing something intellectual.
As I explained, it [definition of religion] is something I myself am still working through. I also explained I use the word in its normative sense most often. I also explained I have a developing personal definition. I'm sorry I have no finished product to offer at this time. I'm not seeing the "deception" here. I might not represent my position well in this case, but lying? I'm afraid you are making me an "offender for a word," antishock8.
LoaP, your lies prevent you from experiencing the existential crisis that you're clearly on the verge of having. It's nothing to be afraid of, even though life and death itself is a terrifying concept to accept; thus the lie is born, and the ongoing nurturing of said lie placates the terrible reality of your own mortality and utimately, your insignificance.
Lead me, guide me, mock beside me, antishock! Apparently you are under the impression I am on the verge of some existentialist break through. I apologize for giving you this impression; it was not intentional.
You're not like some of the others here who are agents and practitioners of deception. That much is clear.
THAT'S a relief!
You can become one of them, if that's what you choose, but in your heart you know what it is that you think you're protecting is a deception. In reality, you're just attempting to protect yourself. Mormonism is a lie. It's a ruse, and you don't need it. You need to get on with confronting yourself, and the reality of your situation. Make peace with that, and you can start managing the question of your existence.
How unbelievably condescending is this? Let's turn it on its head and return it to you.
You can become one of the Mormons, if that's what you choose, but in your heart you know what it is that you think you're protecting, empiricism and nihilism apparently, is a deception. In reality, you're just attempting to set yourself as a brave stoic. Mormonism is truth. It's not a ruse, and you need it. You need to get on with confronting yourself, and the reality of your situation a la Descartes. Start fresh. Cogito ergo sum. Make peace with that, and you can start managing the question of your existence.

I can only hope the missionaries do not exude anger and vitriol in the same fashion as you.

Well, I'm not the one lying, LoaP. How can anyone be happy with someone who deceives other people? That's silly. You're overtly dishonest, admit to it, and shill for a dishonest church. When presented with an obvious fraud, like the Joseph Smith facsimile translations you're so dishonest that you can't even admit that is a decpetion. What part of your behavior are people supposed to be enamored with? Shame on you.
You can’t trust adults to tell you the truth.

So, antishock, what other great truths to you hold in that great treasure trove. Have you solved the Grand Unification Theory yet? You are so bent on being right that the truth right in front of your nose wouldn't convince you of it. I encounter people like you all the time. You look for opportunities to rail without even the semblance of wanting discussion and have the audacity to act offended when someone calls BS. Go eat an ice cream cone, would you?
