Did you happen to notice antichock's signiture line?
Where do you suppose he got that from? ;-)
Thanks, -Wade Englund-
That? I'm quoting my girlfriend. I was like, "Hey, you wanna go to Applebees and get that three appetizer thing?" And she was like, "Uggggghhh... Applebees is like Hooters without the tits." And I was like, "Huh. Holy crap. You're right! Well, I'm hungry and I'm going to get something to eat." And then she was like, "Let's get some Messican food and drink a margarita." And I was like, "Si? Vamos chuleta."

I'm assuming that your point is that the sig line originated with Moniker. Could you explain, what does this have to do with the examples of degrading comments that have been linked to?

Not to get too far off on a tangent, but isn't there a difference between showing a lack of respect for a particular faith and disrespect towards a person?
If someone attacks a faith which has previously played a large role in their lives, does that mean that are now fair game for condescending, misogynistic treatment?
Of course, a lot of the attacks on a faith can turn into personal attacks and disrespect, but surely there is a distinction between the two and the former doesn't necessarily entail the latter.
If a person's faith didn't entail personal beliefs and personal relations and sacred associations, then the distinction you suggested may have some merit. From what I understand of faith, though, it very much does ential those personal things. Disrespect of one's faith, then, is in several ways personal.
And, I am not suggesting that dishing out disrespect makes one fair game for receiving disrespect. To me, two wrongs don't make a right. Rather, I simply suggesting that dishing out disrespect may foster an environment of disrespect that tends to turn back onto itself. Therefore, it is in everyone's best interest for each of us to foster a culture of respect by being respectful--even, for those wishing to draw a distinciton, of people's personal beliefs and relations and sacred associations.

You assumed incorrectly.
Thanks, -Wade Englund-
Then what's your point?
Again, you assumed incorrectly. I wasn't making a point. I was asking a question. Whatever point I may have wished to make thereafter, would have been contingient upon how moniker answered the question.

And I was like, "Huh. Holy s***. You're right! Well, I'm hungry and I'm going to get something to eat." And then she was like, "Let's get some Messican food and drink a margarita." And I was like, "Si? Vamos chuleta."
Like wow, dude. Like that was an "amazing adventure". Like...thanks for sharing. ;-)
After waxing to great lengths on this thread in self-righteous indignation about degrading, boundry-crossing, sexualized behaviors that are direspectful to others and hypocritical, we find Beastie reaching the zenith of of those accusations by posting on another thread a picture of a couple standing in LDS undergarments, and by make a highly derogatory comment having the implied intent of offending people off so as to avoid rationally engaging the issue under discussion.
It, along with the recent increase in sex-related vulgarities peppering her's and other people's post, has once again succeeded in offending me off. See ya!

Nice job taking it totally out of context, Wade. If you read the thread, you KNOW why I did it (to get the thread moved, the only sure-fire way to do that) and you're being deliberately deceptive to pretend otherwise. And if you really can't figure it out, then the rest of your cluelessness makes more sense.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
LDS people, in genereal, are among the red neckiest people in the world. From potluck (popularity of Jell-O and Cream of Whatever Concoction) to all the stupid s*** they wear to church on Sundays (and I'm talkin' K-Mart shirts, brown nylon slacks, and clip-on ties), they're ill-mannered in general. They lack culture and appropriate boundaries found throughout polite society. Sometimes they're exposed to culture because of their missions, but they think they're better than that culture because of their religious ideology. You take stupid uncultured a******s and tell them they're better than everyone... Well, they just don't know how to act.
In retrospect, I have no idea I would want to see marg in a tank-top. I’ll bet she's a wrinkled middle-aged woman with varicose veins and more good years behind her than ahead of her. Right? ;-)
I was just looking through this thread and came across Beastie's comment to me.
I'm curious Beastie, you are all up in arms protesting about some man, saying to some female, "I bet you'll look good in a t-shirt." And apparently that's your example of an offensive remark a male made. Yet you see no problem in attempting to be offensive to me? You appear to have a double standard. Why is it okay for you to be offensive and not some male? And by the way, I didn't find the line " I bet you'll look good in a t-shirt" particularly offensive.
