Look, the fact is this word offends a substantial number of people on the board. Whether or not it offends you is irrelevant!
Since the posters here can't seem to keep conversations civil and keep the wishes of the board members in mind, I guess moderation is the next logical step.

I don't think it has ever happened, but if I ever catch a mod changing a single word in one of my posts, I am gone for good.
If you guys want a list of banned words, then you damn well better post that list. Each mod maintaining their own private list of offensive words is something that I just don't want to deal with.

One more thing. I would venture that 90% of everything posted on this board offends a segment of the readership. If offense is the MD standard for censorship we are in big trouble.
A poster uses a term that he KNOWS is hurtful to to others on the board. He refuses to be decent and refrain from the nonsense which makes others display garments on the board which he finds offensive, to get the thread changed.

I think most people would just be considerate and show a little decency. If they could demonstrate a little humanity there would be no need for any moderation or moving of threads at all.

Just to be clear, in my experience, some people may use the word without thinking... usually once they realize it is offensive they stop using it and/or edit it.
