I got to thinking about this while reading the 'Book of Mormon says no polyg' thread. It also says no secret combinations which as a definitionfit the profile fo the Calling and Election Made Sure process. One thing that I get is that the jole was on the common dupe.

I think what Mercury is getting at is the secret society of the Mormon elite, which includes the contractors. Hassan described it as the inner circle of the cult. In Mormonism, the inner circle are those who have their calling and election made sure and whose companies get the church contracts. The members outside this inner circle are the ones sitting in the pews "sustaining" the ones in the inner circle as their leaders, and sending their money to the inner circle elite. At least that's how I see it.
