Why is it that the only ones who consider joe a good person are Mormon whereas those who are not Mormon question the basics of his inability for human decency?

Yeah, isn't that intersting. There are many other religious figures that I consider the salt of the earth, even though I don't follow their religion. Yet it seems that every non-Mormon that knows anything about Joseph Smith has nothing good to say about him.

This assume the other 99.999% think evil of Joseph Smith which is most likely not the case.

THis is a false assumption. There are non LDS who think highly of Joseph Smith, many non LDS who do not and a lot more who have little opinion about him.

My experience differs from your opinion. When you mention joe they think of Mormon. When they think Mormon they automatically think of Polygamy. Just because a handful of friendly nonmos smile to your face about joe does not mean they think good of the SOB.
