How do the poll selections help answer the question in your opening post?

"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

I didn't exercise my right to vote here.
One moment in annihilation's waste,
one moment, of the well of life to taste-
The stars are setting and the caravan
starts for the dawn of nothing; Oh, make haste!

The Fundamentalist viewpoint can fit into many different religions.
I do not think that someone who has faith is a Jesus Freak, though I see the need for some to use the slur to make themselves feel better.
I never even heard the term before.... I think the person that used the term was attempting to explain, to me, why I find some of the things said on this board startling.
I think growing up in a secular atmosphere vs. religious atmosphere will create some pretty strong impressions upon people. I often say I'm a heathen -- I really shouldn't. When I come into threads and say my take on things (for instance Charity saying women that have had three partners are promiscuous -- or mentioning rape victims by "nuts and sluts") I'm shocked that others seem to think I'm the one out of whack. Then, I have to remember I'm not a "heathen" -- I'm just a woman that did not grow up with any sort of religious indoctrination.
I was being silly this morning and didn't want to offend anyone with my post. I don't care what people have faith in. I do care when I'm told that I'm somehow disgusting or sinful. :)
Mon, I think that you have a very unique POV, and I'm not sure what the person you were talking to was referring to. If he (or she) was referring to the anti-religionists who just can't stop talking about the evils of religion, then yeah, I can agree with the statement that was made. They are still on the subject, even though they're looking at it from a different angle. They don't realize that they haven't let go yet.
I'm a heathen. Be proud of your heathenism.
Your not growing up under religious indoctrination just makes you curious about those of us who did. And for the record, I think you asked a good question. It was one of the responses you got that I was being sarcastic about.
Some use the term Jesus Freak to demean anyone who believes in Jesus, whether or not this person is seeking to indoctrinate at all. The believer is despised for simply believing.
Most of the times that I've heard the term in my generation, it's being used by people who are not ashamed of their faith.
Continue being a voice of sanity here, no matter how many people accuse you of being oversexed, ignorant, or whatever else they call you.
Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances. -Ghandi

Yes, they must. Otherwise there's no point in adding a poll to your post.

Well, then, in that case -- here ya go:
My questions: What is a Jesus Freak? Were you one? Are you one still? Would you like to NOT be one? Are you proud to be one?
Those that answered the poll could say they are proud to be one (see above as a question), they could say they are NOT one (see above), they could answer that Jesus Freaks scare them (I wasn't sure what a Jesus Freak was and asked about that -- speaking in tongues and contortions scare me!), and if they just happened to be one that didn't like my questions they could tell me they were cursing at me in tongues.
Satisfied?
I think you're cursing at me in tongues!

Moniker, I would be suprised if very many people on this board find your attitudes disconcerting. I found Charities views more disconcerting. I was little inclined to comment about matters like three partners being promiscous, I figured she was polishing her Molly badge.
I do not remember nuts and sluts, what or from whom, glad I don't. It is hard to imagine that fiting with anything other than some godawful comment.
The word freaks, Sam Harris fills in current usage with which I am unfamiliar. Thanks. In sixities the word usage started, eek they are freaks, yup were freaks. But that applied to any showy agressively unconventional pose. Popular word, became used for either a type or subset of the movement or any particular individual entheusiasm. One could be a chocolate freak. Or a meth freak. (some forms being safer than others)
There was a phenomena of some counterculture folks becoming Jesus followers. Some of those were in little cultish groups but not all. Some were very narrow conceptually I have since learned. I have no first hand knowledge. At that time I viewed Christianity as a disease one should be careful to innoculate oneself against.
the pastor of my church presently would have been a Jesus freak back in the 70s (if there were any Jesus freaks in those harder edged years of the sixties I can't remember) He is not of the narrow fanantical persuasion. He admits to having fun with his unconventionality back then but has learned to be broader minded over the years.

OMG! I want "oversexed and ignorant" to be my custom title!!! :D
I actually like a lot of the teachings of Jesus -- that of which I know... I find few other historical (assuming for a moment he was a historical figure) that would be on the same sort of scale. Ghandi comes to mind...

Well, I found myself staring at disbelief before my fingers flew across the keyboard to reply to a few things Charity said... :) I thought, perhaps, that I was in isolation for not many people said anything to her about her remarks...
Like I said to GIMR, I find many of Christianities teachings actually quite noble and full of human dignity! I think some harsher judgmentalism and just downright hatred, coming from some posters that apparently think they're followers of Christ, disconcerting, to me.
Thanks for your reply, Huckleberry! :)
