The need for checks and balances or critical review.

Post by _karl61 »

I found another website - http://www.bib-arch.org - and I was reading a page about national geographics publication of the gospel of judas. It seems that when it was first published there was some very critical thoughts on some issues which this web page - http://www.bib-arch.org/bar/article.asp ... rticleID=9 - belives brought about changes.

It seems that this type of stuff is not allowed in the church. To be critical of certain things - questioning Isaiah 48 in the Book of Mormon is to be labled an anti or this or that. One thing that I hear in twelve step meetings is the need for rigorous honesty. One would then ask is this church rigorous in it's honesty and allows critical review. If it does not then it seems that one could say that it mirrors the old soviety union or facist governments as it only seeks to silence those that could cause problems.

I just learned something yesterday about a portion of Isaiah in the Book of Mormon that talks about coming out fo the waters of Judah and then someone added also out of the waters of baptism - What! do they really believe Isaiah wrote out of the waters of Baptism which then I read this baptism reference was not even in the original Book of Mormon.

You would wonder what would happen if the Church put up the Book of Mormon for critical review or even better, paid hebrew scholars for a critical review but that does not seem likely in the future.

Of course they allow for critical review...as long as it's done by those who have a vested interest in the church remaining true.

EVERYTHING has an answer, no matter how implausible, so criticize away.

"Wellll....you can't prove it false" seems to be popping up more and more these days.
