If someone tells you something in confidence, then you keep that confidence. If you can't do it, then you aren't a good friend, and you have broken a trust with them. Period.
I don't think that is the Church's official stance at all. The only exception would be missionaries.
You know that's interesting. A mission is probably when people realize they have doubts. I think they should be upfront and clear with the young men by informing before they ever sign up to go on the mission that if they share any doubts about the Church or anything commanded or said by any leader with anyone, this information will be immediatley relayed to the MP and the missionary can expect reprisal. I know I was very naïve about it all when I was 19 foolishly thought out loud at times in my effort to understand it all.
They always talk about Satan using the frog boiling in water technique, but I think the Church uses it quite well too. I truly had no idea what I was signing up for when I elected to serve the mission. I didn't know I was required to believe that revelations to any mission leader were infallible, what my living conditions would be, what I'd be required to believe, or even that the yellow stitching of my Doc Martens were sinful.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
At the least, the church depicted by several of the posters here bears little resemblance to the community that I know.
That's the problem I see with the Church. It seems to be losing its centralized doctrine and uniformity. One community and for that matter Church doctrine in one community is very different from the next. It's still not as bad as Catholicism but it's headed that way.

It's not intended as an insult. I really do believe Scratch is a woman. She's never corrected me on it. If Scratch said "actually I am a man." I would say "well, I was apparently wrong on that."
I'm starting to think that as well. These days there seem to be more intersexed persons than ever. It's confusing to say the least.

Fluffer, Giz mopper or Death Star contractor?
Death Star contractor. I pointed out it was unsafe and didn't have enough thermal exhaust ports. Luckily, I was able to sneak an extra one into the plans at the end of an unimportant trench. Safety first.
