Google "Impact Training".

I did research on this group (Impact Training) a year ago when I was invited by my Utah relatives. Very cult like, secretive in nature, expensive.. similar or identical to Landmark.

I've forgotten much of my findings, but I concluded my decision was less "no thankyou" but a very strong "hell no".

She already tried to cancel with this lady and the lady got upset because Kristin had "committed" to go and was backing out, and my wife backed down and said she'd go after all. I'm trying to get her to call the lady back and just say no and not go.

My daughter went to an introductory seminar from this group once because of her cousin and aunt and uncle who went, but my daughter said it was wierd and they put some really high pressure on people to continue on and get involved in it. She said they actually went around the room and asked each and every person if they were interested in continuing on or not, and if the person said no they had to sort of justify why not in front of everyone there. It's like they had to have excuses, or else the presumption was that they should go.

F***&. just say no.
It sounds like a Tupperware Party from Hell....
I read a little bit about this group before and what I read screamed out to me that she ought to just not get involved at all. But if she asks me specifically why I don't have much to go on.

Can someone help me out here? If you know anything about Landmark Education, what's the deal with them? What can I tell my wife about them which "justifies" the conclusion that this is a group she'd be well-advised to just steer clear of?

It may be that you've misunderstood me. I do agree that it's almost certainly a crock, and I really, very much wish for my wife to tell her co-worker that she's not interested, and not go. I was just looking for information to confirm or deny that intuitive feel about the group, and provide me information I can share with my wife about it to convince her not to go.

Thanks all for all the links. I've done a lot of reading of things posted here so far. It's been helpful. I'm still not sure how I'm going to sum it all up for my wife in a way that she'll believe. She's got a sister who went before too and sorta got into it a bit. She tried convincing my wife to go already and I got my wife not to go, but then a few months later this co-worker is giving her the hard sell.

I really, really, really don't want even to let them get a foot in the door. My wife is not the kind of person who can resist the hard sell. And she's fairly credulous, and I think she might be the kind who could get sucked into something like this. I don't want this to happen.

If your wife doesn't know how to say no, then you're a very, very lucky husband indeed.

I should have qualified that statement. She doesn't know how to say no to anyone else but me. ;-)
