There'd be a mighty "whoosh!" as it went right over his head.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Has anyone done the temple work for Jesus yet?

I laughed a mighty laugh when I first read this, but then I got to thinking: the Book of Mormon tells us it was necessary for Jesus to be baptized, so wouldn't it stand to reason that it would also be necessary for him to receive his Endowment? Why should he receive one ordinance and not another?

I'm sad that Julius Henry doesn't pop up. 'Tis a tragedy that he has not yet had his work done for him.

Weren't the temple ordinances around in Jesus day? I thought he had already been through and received the new name and secret handshakes.

Although, I'm not sure how he was able to give the secret handshakes with his wrists nailed to the cross??

Ummm nope.

A few weeks after Joseph Smith joined the Mason's he copied their rituals and ceremonies to come up with the temple ordinances.

The Masons trace their handshakes and rituals to actual Free Masons in the 1400 century (If I recall correctly).

Interestingly, (not to derail the thread), in the early days of Masonry, there were three levels of stone worker; apprentice, master, and grandmaster (or something). While many people were unable to travel around the countryside, masons could hence the name "free" masons. When they came upon a construction site they would give their handshake to the head mason and he would know the level of work of which he was capable.

Anyway... the idea that the temple ceremony is ancient, from Solomon's temple, or eternal is pretty ridiculous. Nothing of the sort existed in Jesus' day.
