So far, my favorite commentary is from this columnist. A snippet (along with the best headline ever):

Court approves evil gay agenda
Satan's plan to make uptight straight people "really uncomfortable" working out "fabulously," say Bay Area gays

We are all going to die. Very, very soon. Did you know?

Apparently, the signs are all in place and the plague is clearly nigh and Armageddon is fast upon us because, oh my angry heterosexual god, the announcement has now been handed down: Couples who deeply love one another may now get married in California. It's true.
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

But only the church's definition of "family" is acceptable.

Good grief.

Exactly. But the CA Supreme Court disagrees .... ;)

Interesting how once again the government has had to correct the path of the church, and the church has reacted with predictable animosity. Once again morality must be defined by law, not by God's mouthpiece. Slavery, polygamy, civil rights... makes a thinking person wonder why the churches, especially God's own true church, are so far off the mark.

The LDS Church released the following statement:

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recognizes that same sex marriage can be an emotional and divisive issue. However, the church teaches that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is the basic unit of society. Today's California Supreme Court decision is unfortunate."

The church declined comment on what future action it may take to help challenge the court's decision. Opponents of the ruling are hoping a planned November ballot measure seeking to amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage will succeed.

Interesting. Personally I would argue that the individual is the basic unit of society under the argument that inalienable rights [supposedly] owned to Americans are based on the individual rather than any group.

Satan,

Why are you sparing parts of California, and smiting parts of Mexico?

Mexico: Gay sympathizers

Obviously I think gays should have the right to marry. Adopting kids? I'm open to evidence against it if it is indeed some kind of terrible thing, but what it comes down to is that too many other family situations are messed up and the real question isn't what's the ideal situation, but whats the lesser evil. Mostly I think, for marriage, "cool, now you guys can enter into a life of bondage too". So it's not exciting news to me. What does bring me some joy is how upset it's making the apologists though! CJC said over at FAIR/MAD, "...drain Church resources in defending its religious beliefs." Yes, indeed! How much more joy would it bring me to see the church sued over and over again for failing to honor gay marriage until it's bankrupt. Of course, we all know that won't happen, at the point in society's future that there is even the potential for such a money-losing venture, the church will at once get a revelation! So unfortunately I don't have the faith CJ does that the church will come crumbling to the ground over gay related lawsuits. What a happy thought though, anyway!

Lachoneous on proper checks and balances within the US Government:

This decision is an obvious usurpation of the legislative powers and therefore unconstitutional. All 4 of the Justices who voted for this decision should be immediately removed from office and replaced with Justices who understand constitutional law.

Ever notice how lazy god is about smiting the wicked? Rather than just singling out the offenders and giving them a heart attack or something, he wipes them out with huge natural disasters, and any righteous people that happen to be close by suffer as collateral damage.

Obviously, one simple natural disaster saves sooooo much more time than picking off the offenders one by one. But hey... at least this way, he has a lot less prayers to answer from the righteous. Always gotta look at the bright side!

Then His best is pretty crappy is the U.S.:

The cumulative estimated number of deaths of persons with AIDS in the United States and dependent areas, through 2005, was 550,394. In the 50 states and District of Columbia, this included 525,442 adults and adolescents, and 4,865 children under age 13.

and even worse, worldwide:

Of the estimated 2.1 million [1.9–2.4 million] people who died of AIDS-related illnesses in 2007, 290,000 [270,000–320,000] of them were children under 15 years old.

God really really does want to kill all the bad people. But see, to him it's like stamping on ants - they're so small it's hard for him to see who is who, and they keep moving around and spoiling his aim. He misses a lot of the time, and sometimes he gets the wrong people. But heck, you can't say he isn't trying.

That's why he needs us to help him ...
