Embarrassed by their God
Over on MAD/FAIR they are once again ashamed of their God. Instead of believing in the God of a farm boy, a farm boy who wasn't corrupted by the teachings of Greek philosophy as were the evil Catholics during the time of the Great Apostasy, they now want to believe in a traditional, scholastic God. A first step toward that demands God as a mortal to have been perfect, like Christ was. This is absurd for two reasons.
1) Even if that were true about GTF, there exists some Mormon with bad breath, bad manners, dorky hair, and that makes the cut to become exalted and then goes on to create worlds without end. On one of those worlds, some Internet Mormon will be embarrassed by his God and make the same argument our Internet Mormons make. It is then purely arbitrary and by chance that our Internet Mormons happen to be right if they are right.
2) Take the doctrine of repentence, write it on a reed, throw it on the ground, then unzip and piss on it. And that is what Internet Mormons are doing. They don't believe that repentence will blot out sins and that they may become "white as snow". What is the difference between a God who never made a mistake as a mortal, and one who had a chronic masturbation problem? But one who went with a broken heart and contrite spirit to his bishop, repented, and then had the Atonement of Jesus Christ blot out his trophy case of five-knuckle-olympic medals?

Amazing, incoherent raving. Believe it or not, years ago, Gad could actually carry out a half decent debate on ZLMB.
A new psychiatric term needs to be coined to define what happens to a personality that indulges in anti-Mormonism beyond a certain critical point.

Bidroopy disorder.

And to further confuse the matter: Jesus was God before he came to earth. Having a body wasn't necessary, for him.
I wonder what Joseph was smokin', when he gave that sermon?

I dunno, but no doubt he inhaled.
Let's follow this argument logically--he asked for wine in jail, but he abstained from having normal marital relations with his wives. Riiiiiiiiighhhhhht.
Oh, that sort of advances the "imperfect God" theory, doesn't it? The notion of an imperfect God is ridiculous on its face. If there's a Supreme Being, he/she/it would be the personification and embodiment of perfection, not an approximation of it, and perfection would've necessity imply eternal perfection.
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.

While I take Jason's testimony at face value regarding Harmony's actually being a Mormon, statements like this would otherwise indicate a connection with the actual Church so tenuous as to be nonexistent.
Knowledge of LDS doctrine: near zero.
Understanding of doctrine that is known: peripheral.
