I reject the concept that the more ignorant, the stronger the testimony.
I tend to agree with Bob on this one, for the most part.
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"
Mormonism as interpreted by the apologists, and Mormonism as interpreted by the average member and by the prophets themselves.
I don't buy it. For as long as I've been cognizant of antiMormonism (more than 30 years), all these subjects you claim apologists avoid, I've heard discussed, in Church, by those who have little or no interest in apologetics.

And this of course preempts the hundreds (if not thousands) of 'testimonies' of people with decades of experience in the LDS Church who express surprise or shock or a similar emotion on finding out via other means the things that bcspace claims are discussed regularly in Mormon services.

Considering the fact that the Mormon church is nothing like the one Joseph Smith left behind, it's not surprising that Internet Mormonsim looks nothing like the one presented to investigators and to run-of-the-mill members on any given Sunday.
LGT.
Book of Abraham missing papyrus.
Wandering Hill(s) of Cumorah.
Multiple First Visions.
Philandering prophets.
Untrustworthy prophets.
Submariner Jews who are fluent in Egyptian.
Tapir-riding Jews who wield wooden clubs with obsidian chips.
Etc. etc...
If this were any other religion Mormons would be howling with derisive laughter at the "gullibility" of its defenders (Scientology comes to mind). This truly boggles the mind...
