the signs, tokens and names I once took an oath to "not reveal" were directly lifted from the Masonic Ceremony. Therefore, Joseph Smith himself violated the covenant with his worshipful master and other lodge members by revealing these masonic secrets -- does that make ol' Joe un-trustworthy? I have to say YES is does.. and Yes that directly affects how I look at anything I know he was "responsible" for...

In my book -- the promise/oath to not reveal temple content is based on a lie! and once synapses begin to fire in sequence and one realizes this. the oath that was based on a lie simply disappears!!

This kind of reminds me of how LDS sometimes try to insist that exmormons are immoral and sinful when they no longer abide by LDS standards, such as the word of wisdom. Why in the world should people be forever bound to the ethics and standards of a religion they don't even believe in??? I don't believe the LDS God, or any other god, exists, and I'm supposed to keep promises I made to this imaginary being?
So you like to take a little nip, now and then do ya?

Anywhere I like...and anywhere I think that it will serve to make people think about what they do, in relation to the promises they make.

skippy the dead wrote:Pa-pa - a couple of questions for you:

Are you referring specifically to the covenants made to not reveal the names and signs of the various tokens, or do you have something else in mind?

Who do you think the covenant is made with?

What level of disclosure do you think makes an ex-mo untrustworthy? If I discuss the temple rites with my never-mo husband, is that a violation that makes me untrustworthy in all respects? Or are you limiting your condemnation for those who post content on the internet?
I will never pass judgement on what a husband and wife discuss. I am talking about those who live to hurt the church and anyone who is a member of it.

Actually, no. I'd like to, but I have a health issue the precludes it. A glass of wine every now and then is lovely.

So if a Muslim converts to the LDS church, should that former Muslim refrain from eating pork the rest of his/her life? Should a former female Muslim convert to the LDS church continue to wear a burqa?

But your response is quite informative. You weren't really interested in substantive dialog, were you? You aren't actually interested in our thoughts and answers, are you? You think you already know the answers, and what we think is irrelevant.

Now we know how seriously to take "pa pa".

Why in the world would I know that? LDS members judge exmembers frequently for drinking alcohol to any degree.

Ed Decker.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.
