Perhaps it is because Elohim is teaching him a lesson for his comment during his Murray show?
One student asked Archuleta, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whether he planned to serve a two-year mission for the faith. Archuleta responded that it was something he planned to do if he wasn't still doing music.
Oh reaaaahhhiiiillllyyy Mormon boi? Elohim was watching and he is PISSED!
"I feel like I'm serving a mission right now in a way," he said.
I guess Elohim just gave him the back handed beeeooottch slap!
About 4,000 fans, crowded inside the EnergySolutions Arena, gasped in disappointment Wednesday night as David Cook was handed the "American Idol" crown, beating Murray teen David Archuleta by 12 million votes.
Oh man that is such a sweet loss! He lost by almost as many votes as there are supposed members of his silly little church!!
I can't possibly take any kind of glee in this whole thing just because he's a Mormon. Most of the people I know are Mormons. He's 17 years old, and doesn't know his ass from his elbow. He didn't start the church, he was just raised in it by his folks. I don't see how his getting beaten here helps the cause of education about the church's manmade origins.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I take the same approach. He is nothing more than a pawn being used by LDS Inc for public appeal.
I am just happy to see their plan foiled by a bartender!
He'll still experience a very successful career. However, I think he's more suited to Broadway than pop. By all accounts, despite his meddling stage father, David is a genuinely nice individual who doesn't deserve ill wishes. And I say this as a huge David Cook fan.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Who will be the NEXT Mormon LOOOSER????
So what....anybody that is a Mormon and talented you hate? You are delighting in this? (rolling eyes) "Take THAT you Mormons!!! That'll show ya!" (another rolling eye smiley)
I think David Archuleta is nothing short of amazing. What a prodigy!. He sings like an angel and this EXMO is buying his CD the day it comes out.
Give him time. He'll figure this whole Mormon thing out. It took me 46 years to.
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who cold not hear the music. ----Nietzche
Coming in second on American Idol is an amazing achievement in itself, and doesn't make someone a loser at all.
There are plenty of things to criticize in Mormonism, LDS practice and theology, but that David Archuleta happens to be LDS isn't one of them.
That Mormons will rise en masse to vote for him simply because he is Mormon might be. But David Archuleta seems to be a genuinely talented, sincere kid who will go very far in this life. He doesn't deserve to be a target on your shooting range.
The road is beautiful, treacherous, and full of twists and turns.
The kid rose to number 2 out of 100,000 people who tried out..
I'd say that's pretty damn good.
Right now he's about as famous as DonnyO was back in the day and we know where he went on a mission !
