The singer and his family declined to be interviewed at the event, but David Archuleta
did speak with the Salt Lake City Fox affiliate, KSTU-TV. "Wow," he exclaimed as he viewed
the cheerleading squad outside his stretch limousine.

This is the kind of losing I could grow accustomed to receiving.

In that case, just think of all the tail he's gonna be gettin' once his Senior year starts up in August.

Then come back and tell us whether or not he's a loser.

At the finale, there were a group of girls holding up signs saying "I need a date for prom."

:)

Somehow, I don't think he is going to do much "suffering" coming in second place. Basically, if you're anywhere in the top 4, you have a pretty decent shot at a music career. Look at Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, etc.

I'm glad that David Cook won because I honestly thought that overall, he was the best performer. That being said, David Archuleta has an amazing voice, and will definitely go far.

He will also get a record contract. The only real difference between first and second place in "American Idol" is that the first place winner gets to decide whether they want their CD to come out first or second. I intend to buy CD's from both Davids. ;)

You're criticizing the kid, and you haven't even heard him sing? You're a doof.

No doofus, I have heard him sing on YouTube... you've heard of that, right? Just in case you have not, listen carefully while I spell out the website address, H T T P : / / Y O U T U B E . C O M

He sounds average. Cook can sound like him and go real gritty.

I have nothing against the kid as a person. I am sure soccer moms and their tiny-bopper girls around the country will buy his soft pop CD.

I am simply elated at another public loss for LDS Inc. I don't care who it is. I love to see Mormons fawning over one of their own who they think is doing so well simply because they are a blessed Mormon, only to see him fall short of their expected glory.

1. Mormons don't necessarily believe that a Mormon will have great career success or success in a contest just because they're Mormon.

2. hoping a person will fail just because they believe in something you don't is a very sad way to live.

We all know the Mormon boy would become the origin of numerous Faith-Promoting Rumor for years to come had he won. Again I have nothing against the kid.

I am just happy to see the Mormon fans stopped in their tracks.

Perhaps I spoke to soon, as we all also know very well that god never gets the blame. I am sure many will say that god made it end up like this so that he would be able to serve a mission.

I pity the poor kid. He will never be able to do want he wants UNLESS he either exits the church or serves a mission. If he does not serve a mission, and remains a member, no amount of success in the music industry will subdue the scorn of the membership.

How have they been stopped in their tracks? He came in 2nd. He will still be able to circulate a CD.

As has already been pointed out earlier in the thread, take a look at the Osmonds. They were actually "pardoned" from serving missions by Church leaders. Their music career was considered their mission.

Who is to say that the same thing wouldn't happen to Archuleta if his success continues?

This Mormon fell short.. by 12 million votes. Everything not first place isn't the winner.

How soon before we hear the hand wringing and accusing the public of not voting for him because of his poor picked on religion foisted upon him by his unwitting parents?

He meant levi luvin, a.k.a. dry humping whilst playing tonsil hockey or sucking face with the hot Mormon senior chicks.

Okay, I just listened to about 3 of his performances on you tube. He has a very good voice for his age. Give him about 3+ years and he's gonna knock total socks off.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
