What, precisely, are DCP's views on Islam and Islamism?
Nothing is going to startle us more when we pass through the veil to the other side than to realize how well we know our Father [in Heaven] and how familiar his face is to us

I was wondering the same thing. I tried to listen to the debate Dartagnan linked to, but my computer didn't like it....

I'm listening to it right now. Realplayer opened it right up.

But Dan didn't realize it was supposed to be a debate, and he ended up agreeing with just about everything Robert said.

This really wasn't a debate but a rational, learned, civil discussion among two Islamic scholars with somewhat differing views on some points. KG would do well to imitate both Spencer and DCP in their manner and presentation of his own arguments, although I fear the psychological and emotional baggage he has carried into his personal vendetta against the Book of Abraham precludes such a state of affairs materializing any time soon.

An excellent response on the sane page as the audio link to the interview, which succinctly give us the flavor of the conversation:

I was surprised at Dr. Peterson's clear understanding of the subject (His book title suggested he'd be standing in as a proxy for Karen Armstrong -- I was pleasantly surprised); there was enough disagreement to make a lively conversation with some counterplay, but enough agreement that the conversation could actually go somewhere and enable the listener to engage intellectually with a couple of similar, but recognizably different, approaches to the same problem.

I would love to watch Robert Spencer debate Mr. Peterson. However, with every point made they'll essentially be talking past each other, and Mr. Peterson, the dhimmi he is, will undoubtedly continue his apologetics well past his exchange with Robert Spencer. This, by the way, is a huge coupe for Mr. Peterson. If he does well, he might elevate his status within the Islamo-apologist world. Hell, if he's lucky he might be able to score some of that sweet Saudi petrocash from his endeavors....

Typical.

I've done plenty of criticizing of DCP's various comments on Islam. But most of them came about because he attacked me at FAIR for saying the same things Robert Spencer said in their debate. Spencer wrote a book "Muhammed founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion." He called me a bigot for saying Islam was intolerant. Did he call Spencer a bigot? Of course not.

Instead, he pretty much agreed with everything Spencer had to say. It boggles the mind.

Will the real Daniel Peterson please stand up?

Would that be a Coupe de Ville or an Aston Martin?

Whoops. My bad. Didn't notice the 'e'. Coup.

My anonymous friends all just pm's me and mentioned how the letter 'e' is 7 keys away from 'p', so you likely spelled it wrong because you thought that was how it is spelled, rather than out of "not noticing." They also said you are creepy and they don't like you.

Pfft. Maybe. But at least my name ain't [in real life information removed by Jersey Girl]
