I talked to both Dan and Robert about this shortly after their debate. Dan said he was kinda caught by surprise and he didn't realize it was supposed to be a debate with Spencer. He said that if he had time to think about some of the things he was asked, he would have said some things differently. I informed Robert Spencer about this and he offered to have a formal internet debate with Dan and host it at frontpagemagazine.com, but Dan declined. Later Dan said he was thinking about doing a review of Robert's book.

So...

It will be interesting to see how this debate plays itself out.

Dr. Peterson recently posted on MAD that he will be appearing at FreedomFest 08. He'll be debating Robert Spencer; their topic: "The Real Islam: Radical or Peaceful?” Also appearing at FreedomFest will be Dinesh D'Souza, Michael Shermer, and Christopher Hitchens. (I wonder if the last is aware of Dr. Peterson's critique of "god Is Not Great.")

At any rate, it looks like it will be a fascinating event. Wish I could make it....
