Thanks. I have tried very hard to avoid writing the kind of blog bcspace describes. Maybe it's personal animus towards me, I don't know, but I really would like to know what's behind his comments.

I'm sorry this kind of thing gets to you, runtu. You've seen this kind of thing here before. It's one of the standard techniques for blocking serious discussion on this site. The there's nothing "behind" the comment except that.

You're probably right. Still kind of gets to me, though.

Here's my armchair counselor analysis -- and up front, I could be wrong! Two issues -- one, why BC doesn't like your blog, and two, why it bothers you.

First, I've had many experiences in my years since leaving the church where my "take" on anything -- political, historical, etc. -- is taken with a MAJOR grain of salt by TBMs. Even if a member believes the same thing, my opinion is questioned with skepticism. After all, I've lost the spirit (that I once had, of course), so it's as if the devil is speaking. Perhaps BC is approaching your blog similarly -- without even knowing it.

Second, in the early stages of ex-mormondom, many of us are a bit lost with regard to associates and friends. We try to keep the peace with both sides, and sometimes that is difficult. We get hurt when either doesn't like us; especially if we're people-pleasers (and many Mormons are), it's a challenge to find our new circle of friends. I think more nevermos and long-time exmos are more comfortable not having to be liked by everybody.

I don't know about bcspace, but you're right about me. I am very much a pleaser. All of my siblings are as well.
