Juliann realizes that the best defense in to crawl through the mud and plant C4 charges with enriched uranium pellets, in the Times and Season Blog, then crawl away through the muck and mire and detonate the explosives in the protection of the MAD bunker.

Enjoy!

I continue to be amazed that the Church has not shut down FAIR/MAD and the hacks that run it. They do more damage to the Church than any critic does. And this latest fiasco is a perfect example.

It's an independent board though! [although you'd think that pious religous folks such as run MAD would gladly shut the place down if God's mouthpieces asked them to]

Wow, quite a juicy read, especially the comments posted to Times & Seasons. I liked this one by John Lynch:

J. Lynch wrote:Allen Wyatt is a highly valued contributor to FAIR. His laps in judgment is his own. If there is any out there who is free from sin, let them cast the first stone. Otherwise, I recommend that we recognize that he regrets his actions and accept him at his word.

LOL!!! The trouble is that this isn't Allen's first "laps in judgment." He seems to suffer from habitual "lapses" in judgment.

Also: What is with Lou Midgley these days? He seems to be practically everywhere, turning up to post rather lengthy, judgmental diatribes and various blogs. Does he post on MAD under a pseudonym, perhaps?

Yep, I'm still sore:(

I'm afraid Juliann did NOT like my "can't we all just get along" post. If she ever "buries the hatchet" it'll probably be in someone's back(LOL).

It is clear there is some kind of rivalry going on between the two sites--all you have to do is read the comments. Hopefully, they'll work it out.

The thought of "getting along" surely rankled Juliann. Unfortunately Alter Idem, that puts you on her short list. All females need to be subservient lest they get stung by the Queen Bee.

I am certain when they mention this board they do so with a smug putdown.

Man, I couldn't believe the animosity of her reply.

I was also pretty surprised at how she persisted in her own little battle on MAD, instead of manning up over at T&S (using initials rather than her name, of course). Apparently she has some history with Ardis, and catches others with the shrapnel of her attacks.

Interesting how C.I. (a.k.a. Lance Starr) is happy to toot his horn, much to the apparent chagrin of the FAIR leaders.

I admit to having a small fascination with online LDS apologetics. I think it all started because I was genuinely surprised to discover this vocal community who knew the seamy side of church history and yet still defended it ardently. It’s somewhat like being exposed to Young Earthers for the first time.

In particular, I have found the evolution of MAD to be interesting and have commented on it frequently. Watching this particular exchange between Juliann and her defenders and the T & S bloggers has added an additional insight to the evolution of MAD.

When I was a young parent of three children, friends with other young parents with multiple children, I noticed a particular trend. It seemed to me that the natural personality and temperament of the eldest child had a great impact on the overall interactions between siblings, and/or child/parent. I first noticed this with my sister’s four sons. Her oldest son was, and still is, extremely dogged and persistent. Stubborn, if you will. He also tends to want to be the leader and can have an explosive temper, although he’s controlled that as he’s gotten older. (he’s now an adult with children of his own) He set a certain “tone” in the house that the younger boys tended to follow, so there were frequent confrontations and arguments. I noticed the converse in other family settings, like my other sister, whose first child was a calm natured girl. If the eldest child is calmer and even-tempered, the subsequent siblings tend to pattern that. Of course, this is not always true, and sometimes siblings are the polar opposite of the eldest sibling, but I think, as a general rule, the eldest does set a certain amount of the tone in a household. Often this seemed to be out of the control of parents, aside from the fact that their children may have inherited some of their own traits, which they, as adults, tried to temper.

In a similar vein, when a new internet board is started, the personality and traits of the most dominant founder will have an impact on the entire tone and evolution of the board, which leads me to MAD. As much as she may deny it, Juliann was a very dominant founder of the FAIR board and, in my opinion, “set the tone” the way an eldest child does. Apparently, we are learning, the “parents” (like John Lynch) may not have wanted or agreed with that particular tone, but it’s no longer under their control. Juliann simply has a rude, bombastic, and extremely biased internet Mormon personality. Even her friends recognize that to a certain extent, although they are extremely loyal to her. I think she’s probably a loyal and good “real life” friend to create such strong loyalties in people who actually recognize these negative traits exist that can have a negative overall impact.

I don’t really think that Juliann’s online personality is caused by Mormonism. There are plenty of other believers who do not feel the need to behave so bombastically. Look at Pacumeni, who started ZLMB as a reaction to the biased moderation of the Tanner’s board. (I always giggle a little at this point.) Pac was a very calm, fair guy. The board took on his tone, in terms of how the moderation was conducted. (this was back when Pac ran it, of course). What I do think is caused by Mormonism is the fact that given the choice between ZLMB and FAIR, believers, en masse, chose FAIR. The price of that choice is that the board has taken on the “flavor” of its dominant founder.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Parody and satire have a long and illustrious history, and can be very effective. My site was not mocking the Tanners; it was criticizing them using a caricature of their own making. Turning the \”Shadow or Reality\” moniker back on their works was similar to what others had done by using the same literary devices that the Tanners do.
- Allen Wyatt

Perhaps Runtu or Bond could help us out and extend Allen's metaphor on this caricature idea?

CI is Lance Starr? ROTFLMAO! It sounds like a stage name for a porn movie wannabee! *giggling*

I'm sorry, this is really not well done of me. He can't help what his momma named him, but DAMN! That's so danged funny!
