I also want to see your current credit card statement, a statement regarding the status of your mortgage/cars (boats, planes and trains) any Chuck E Cheese tokens you have in your junk drawer (don't try to fool us, Daniel, we know you have them) the change you have stashed in the ash tray of your car, whatever coins you can scrounge out from your washing machine, and if you have a "penny jar", I want you to film yourself counting it out and post it on youtube.

I have to admit that, while I don't believe in spiritual forces, the comments about a "fundraiser" creeped me out a little bit. I don't have a good feeling at all about this individual and his or her activities.

Some of you clearly need to apply for work as the Maxwell Institute accountant. The position isn't vacant, but someday it probably will be, and your burning zeal to know my personal finances and to possess the Institute's budgetary data -- to conduct a fiscal Scratchoscopy, in other words -- may well impress a future search committee.

My full-time METI managing editor's paycheck comes via BYU, but his position is funded entirely by donated money. Money that, to my deep shame and dishonor, I raised from private benefactors and from domestic and foreign foundation grants. The whole situation is creepy to the max. Like Tales from the Crypt, or something.

Hey! Back off the creepy fundraiser stuff. I'm a fundraiser! In the past four years, a little over $2.5 million, to be precise. If that's creepy, I suggest you 'splain that to my boss, 'cause he doesn't think it's creepy, he keeps giving me raises and a promotion.
