Do pre-adamites help?

Post by _Gadianton »

One of the problems with Internet Mormon ideas is that they reconcile with science at the expense of the story. How do pre-Adamites fit in with the gospel story?

Do pre-Adamites have a spirit?

yes: then were the last generation before Adam human or animal, and will they be resurrected? Those just before wouldn't be subject to the fall and according to 2nd Nephi, ruined the whole plan of salvation (for their group).

no: then the generation before Adam were sentient without "intelligence" or a spirit body to pull the strings.

How do they not fit? by the way, what is an "internet Mormon"? I seem to recall a description here in the context of plural marriage, but I didn't fit that description or the other one.

Do pre-Adamites have a spirit?

Yes. But it's not a spirit child of God.

Probably.

Those just before wouldn't be subject to the fall and according to 2nd Nephi, ruined the whole plan of salvation (for their group).

How so? 2 Nephi 2 actually allows for an undefined state before the state of no death all things were created into.

no: then the generation before Adam were sentient without "intelligence" or a spirit body to pull the strings.

There are some very intelligent animals today. What if they also had the brain of a homo sapiens? Civilization is a very recent devolpement in the history of homo sapiens. You have a slow rise over several hundred thousand years and then it just takes off.

Keep in mind that I am not shackled to a 4004 BC date for the Fall.

Why not homo sapiens? That's the body God's spirit children are placed into and the Fall almost certainly post dates the creation of homo sapiens. It's God that determines when all is ready.

Good Lord, what kind of twisted spirit child is it then?

And keep and mind as far as animals go, Adam and Eve's biological parents would have virtually no distinguishable differences from Adam and Eve.

Perhaps one like this.....

.....?

Just kidding. It's not a spirit child of God at all.

And keep and mind as far as animals go, Adam and Eve's biological parents would have virtually no distinguishable differences from Adam and Eve.

Sure. The distinction would be in what kind of spirit inhabits the body.

One advantage of not thinking that the restoration of all things has something to do with polygamy and other cultural rellics is that one can then think it means renewing all things in the new life.(the phrases proper meaning) That would include animals . Well include would be rather natural in that humans are animals.

In that the fall is a picture of our situation it applies to all living things not just ones after a certain event. Neandrathals had the same problems as we do. family.

Nothing wrong with Church members accepting evolution and simply revising their schemata for time, place and process.

One of the weirdest things about the idea of God using evolution to create things is that it is the wrong tool for the job.

The whole idea behind evolution is that you don't know how it's going to end up. It's gradual change over time, with improvements being made bit by bit (or with punctuated big bits).

But supposedly God knew all along exactly what the end product was supposed to look like (namely: like Him). He knew the form and function of all the organs, and the total anatomy from head to toe. So God using evolution was a process with a goal; it had to come out just right so it would look just like him. It chouldn't result in humans with three arms, or one eye. That's not what evolution is.

So what is the purpose of spending millions of years just kind of nudging the process along, with false starts and dead ends? It would be like trying to make chocolate chip cookies, but instead of just using the Nestle Tollhouse recipe from the back of the package, you make thousands and thousands of different batches, trying to figure out how to make Nestle Tollhouse cookies. Then, finally, after years and years of experimentation, you arrive at the exact cookie that you could have made the first time by looking at the package.
