BC, it wasn't at our expense, nor was it at your expense.

And.......?

You were ridiculing an individual with a physical deformity whose only connection to the discussion is that you found their appearance distasteful and thus a humorous commentary on the discussion. This poor individual suffered an attack by you for her appearance only as if comparison to her some how also belittled your target of argumentation. However, you seem to fail to see that no one else sees the comparison as the insult you intended and the pity that is manifest in the form of disgust targeted to you is lost on you ignorance of basic human compassion and norms of behavior.

Hope that spells it out for you.

First of all, your swipe was intended toward Harmony, not me, so I'm not exactly sure why you feel I need to "put on another layer of skin".

Secondly, I don't object to humor, and I don't object to a little good-natured jabbing at each other. You and I do it all the time. ;)

What I objected to was the picture of a young girl who obviously had some serious physical deformities being used as a guise to deem someone as unattractive.

That type of humor, in my opinion, is not humor at all, and is on the verge of being cruel. At the very least, it is of poor taste, and, in all of the private conversations we have had, I just didn't peg you for someone who would engage in that type of "humor".

Apparently, I was wrong.

Edited to add---I may be a little overly sensitive concerning this topic since my 4 year old suffers from Aspberger's Syndrome, which is a branch off of autism. Although, he does not show any type of physical deformities, dealing with his special needs has put me in contact with many different types of special needs children with all types of maladies and deformities. These children truly have an insight to God that few others do, and ever will, and are some of the most beautiful children in the world.

I'm guessing it was more of a joke then an attempt to belittle people. I laughed. Does this make me a horrible human being who should be dragged out in the streets and shot and then thrust straight to hell where I shall eat naught but burning hot coals and drink not but burning hot cola and where fiery demons will push me around with pointy forks and my soul will be chopped into confetti and strewn upon a parade of murderers and single mothers?

For the record, I do see a bit of, if not hypocrisy, then something, in people absolutely railing on BCSpace for putting up a picture of a couple of ugly people and jokingly calling them anti-Mormons. As has been noted, quite a lot of images have been posted in the past ridiculing some aspect of the church, and most of us laughed right along with it. I don't want to go into the litany of reasons why BC's image is obviously and egregiously different from all those other images though. I don't see the point.

Yeah, if that's not a Photoshop job on that girl's face, it really sucks to be her. Ok, I get it. She suffers a terrible misfortune. I get it. That doesn't mean it isn't funny in some way, even a sick way, to use that mug and a label of whatever opponent one wishes to make fun of. It's like that old man face with the mouth and nose all sucked up, I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about (not the goatse guy).

I can't believe we've used up an entire page of posts in a thread that was actually about something else, just ripping on BCSpace for doing the same thing that has been done in other worlds, um, I mean by other posters.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

For me, what struck me was that the girl, in particular, looked like a child. Maybe she was older. I don't know. But that was what made me rather heartsick. I responded to BC in detail on the prior page. I don't know if you read my response to him or not, but this was something I edited, which you may have missed:

And, for the record, I would have ripped into whoever posted that, whether they were pro or anti-Mormon. My feelings on these types of things have been very consistent.

I'll supply the hot cola for your refreshment and have the pointy forks at the ready for participants. ;)

There are several posters on this board with connections, of some sort, to special needs children, through relation and/or education. Some small part of me continues to hope that, even if the rest of the world finds it funny to use special needs individuals as a tool in humor, that maybe, in this small corner of the world, we can refrain - if for no other reason than to recognize the sensitivities of others. I realize it's probably a vain hope, given that some posters disdain even our requests for sensitivities, but I suppose I'm either stupidly optimistic or just a fool.

You know what makes me really sad about that photo? Someone who knew those kids took that picture, and then photo-shopped it in that way, for the entertainment.

There is no comparison to the old man making the ugly face, seth. He was doing that deliberately to be funny. These kids are just who they are.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

The thing is, in my entire life, having lived all across the country and interacted with a huge variety of people of all religious and non-religious beliefs, I have never come across even one person who thinks it is funny to make fun of those with disabilities or special needs EXCEPT for members of the LDS church on various LDS related boards, and two former members.

I find this really strange.

Obviously there are members who are kind and compassionate, but isn't it weird that this sort of mockery seems to be not only tolerated but celebrated by so many believers?

I heard that there was a letter from the FP read in sacrament Marjorie Taylor-Greene yesterday telling speakers to not request the audience look up scriptures while they are speaking.

Now, this little oddity seems important enough to get the attention of the FP yet the tendency of some LDS members to engage in truly disgusting behavior by making fun of those who Christ would most certainly have attended to, seems not even on the radar.

Makes it difficult to believe the LDS church is about goodness and compassion.

:-(
