What's really sad, BC, and probably frustrating for you, is that your point was, indeed lost. It wasn't that it was too deep for any of us. Your point was rather simple, really. It was the fact that for two anti-Mormons to be arguing over what is or isn't Mormon doctrine is ironic. Then, you illustrated the irony with what you thought was a funny picture.

I wasn't frustrated at all. I simply got a different (and still desirable) result.

What you didn't count on was the backlash. Your poor choice of illustration made the very point you were trying to make obsolete.

Drawing out the stupidity and inanity of PC and hyper sensitivity, masked with piety, for others to see is a good result imho. I would not hesitate to post in similar fashion again; especially now that I know more of what exists here.

Sounds to me you need to write a letter to your church leaders, asking them to stop being stupid, PC, and hyper-sensitive when they ask LDS to not mock the disabled.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

A contrast with the above - which bcspace will no doubt show by his usual sophisticated analysis to be completely consistent with his own views on this topic, and his actions on this thread.

Boyd K. Packer:

Never Ridicule

I must say this to parents. It is not unusual for foolish children and some very thoughtless adults to make light of the handicapped. The mimicking or teasing or ridiculing of those with handicaps is cruel. Such an assault can inflict deeper pain than can physical punishment—more painful because it is undeserved. It is my conviction that such brutality will not, in the eternal scheme of things, go unanswered, and there will come a day of recompense.

My mother taught us when we were very young that we must never ridicule the unfortunate. Her mother died when she was six. My mother worked in the fields from a very early age. One day some teenagers were picking fruit. One of the girls laughingly mimicked one who suffered from cerebral palsy, saying, “Look who I am,” and she named the handicapped person. They all laughed as she threw herself into a stumbling walk. Suddenly she fell as if struck down. They gathered around her in great fright. Presently she recovered, but there was no more fun at the expense of the handicapped. Mother never forgot what she saw, nor to teach a lesson from it.

Parents, take time in the next home evening to caution your family never to amuse themselves at the expense of the handicapped or of any whose face or form or personality does not fit the supposed ideal or whose skin is too light or too dark to suit their fancy. Teach them that they, in their own way, should become like angels who “move the water,” healing a spirit by erasing loneliness, embarrassment, or rejection.

In Mendoza, Argentina, we attended a seminary graduation. In the class was a young man who had great difficulty climbing ordinary steps. As the class marched in, two strong young classmates gracefully lifted him up the steps. We watched during and after the proceedings, and it became apparent that the whole class was afflicted with a marvelous kind of blindness. They could not see that he was different. They saw a classmate, a friend. In them the works of God were being manifest. While there was no physical transformation in the boy or in his classmates, they were serving like angels, soothing a spirit locked in a deformed body awaiting that time when it would be everlastingly made perfect.

BC,

Do you truly believe that mocking people with disabilities is in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ?

Can you truly ignore the counsel of an apostle of Jesus Christ and find humor in hurting others?

Do you truly believe you are listening to the HG as you make fun of people with special needs?

Can you seriously go to the temple in good conscious knowing you have been so cruel?

You really think BKP is just being PC and not interested in human decency and compassion?

Have you ever prayed and asked God if your behavior/attitude is a reflection of holiness?

Does the scripture, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these thy brethren ye have done it unto me" truly mean nothing to you?

I really don't get your attitude.

Seriously...

Never at any time have I ridiculed the unfortunate. If you have any doubts about that, all you have to do is ask me "Are you ridiculing the unfortunate?" instead of being immediately offended. Just because you think I am doesn't make it so. Likely I will be making similar posts in the future. I suggest you get to know me before making railing accusations.

I believe I answered them in my last post though obviously not in the way you were hoping.

May I take a stab at these?

Do you truly believe that mocking people with disabilities is in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ?

Nope, but I don't believe swimming on my lunch break is in line with it either and I do it anyways.

Can you truly ignore the counsel of an apostle of Jesus Christ and find humor in hurting others?

Who got hurt? All the mentally disabled who come here? Haven't seen any. Oh right, the delicate sensibilities of the easily offended....yeah, I can survive offending them.

Do you truly believe you are listening to the HG as you make fun of people with special needs?

Actually fun was poked at Harmony. Does she have problems we don't know about?

Can you seriously go to the temple in good conscious knowing you have been so cruel?

I don't see cruelty sorry.

You really think BKP is just being PC and not interested in human decency and compassion?

No, it's probably both.

Have you ever prayed and asked God if your behavior/attitude is a reflection of holiness?

Yes, not in this regard. I only do this kind of thing here because your over-the-top reactions are hilarious. We've done this before.

Does the scripture, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these thy brethren ye have done it unto me" truly mean nothing to you?

I mock myself all the time. I think it's good for the soul. I have no problem with mild banter which is what the image was. Now, calling people evil, cruel, sick, bereft of human decency, a rapist etc. is less okay but that's what others call me so I'll just endure.

Kinda funny, people here stomp on things I consider sacred regularly and often. It's interesting to see the positions reversed.
