With no definitive statements from the "men who speak with God", I see more and more members coming up with their own ideas...

Very odd. The voice seems to be produced by some kind of text-to-speech application.

Has a lap-top been baptised LDS?

I think this is a good thing.

It's not splintering. It's allowing people to think and develop ideas. Is this a bad thing?

You seem to suggest that the Church should be a monolithic organization dictating all parts of our lives and everything we believe yet you've also said this is a bad thing.....you're confusing.

Why does Tommy not just ask Elohim to show him where the physical evidences exist?

Or why not just have him pull rank and make something up like "God told me that ALL Book of Mormon evidences were removed from the earth, just like the plates to ensure we operate by faith alone" ?

He might have but I think you miss a key element in being a Prophet. You DON'T get every whim catered to on the moment and you DON'T get permission to reveal everything you know.

It sometimes seem like Antis expect prophetic demigods that can unlock the secrets of the Universe to everyone. They're guys working out their salvation the same as anyone else in the Church who get some special revelation to help them carry the burden they're assigned.

This isn't correct. Those who've received the 2nd Anointing are guaranteed their salvation so long as they don't shed an innocent's blood.

I thought the video was quite interesting. Best theory I've heard so far.

Maybe someday they will uncover huge cities in these spots, run DNA on the bones in the mounds and get a Hebrew. Maybe even tablets that translate parallel to the teachings of the Book of Mormon.

Does it make Smith a prophet and the church true?

No.

If Smith read the Book of Mormon, he didn't understand it. His life was a mockery of the principles it conveyed. How he ended up with it is the real mystery. He didn't have the capacity to live by moral absolutes.

Consider this: God may have hidden the proof of the Book of Mormon to discourage his children to conclude that the Mormon church was His idea

To an organization that feeds off of control? You bet your ass.
And crawling on the planet's face
Some insects called the human race
Lost in time
And lost in space...and meaning
