Anyone who has read the words of Jesus knows that underneath it all he was promoting first the following basic principles:
1. Money. Unmoderated capitalism, trickle down economics, and the right to accumulation of unlimited personal wealth.
2. The dismantling of welfare and blaming of poverty on the poor themselves.
3. Domination of the natural environment and the primacy of industry, corporate interests, and profit over ecological stewardship.
4. Militaristic aquisition and control of natural resources, world policing, American dominance and the criminality of flag defacement (Jesus is big on flags).
5. Unlimited rights to guns of all types.
6. The importance of righteousness of torture.
7. Opposition to evolution in schools and the pandering to the religious right and their goal of dominionism based on Biblical inerrancy.
And don't forget, Jesus was a strong advocate of capital punishment. One of the strongest advocates ever, I'd say. He would sneer and chortle at the Supreme Court's concern over the dignity and humanity of our executions.
I'm not sure how he felt about the rights of fertilized embryos. He might have had a somewhat idiosyncratic position on that, given his upbringing.
