At least that is the message I am getting from reading Bcspace's interpretation of what it
takes to be a good Mormon. Personally, I think this is a mistake and a mistake that
could cost the Church some members if it ever became an official mantra.
To me, the Gospel of Jesus is for everyone regardless of their political stripe. I also think it
is unfortunate that the Church has allowed itself affiliation with ultra-right wing politics, since that
has probably tempered some of their decisions.

It won't ever become official mantra, neither will any of BC's other watered down, weird interpretations of scripture and Mormon doctrine.
We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart.

I think to make this comment you really have to have standing to do so -- that you are a believer, that you support the Brethren and uphold your covenants. Your anonymous posts demonstrate that you don't, so why the hell do you care whether you have to be conservative or not? Isn't the fundamental premise before you ask that question is whether you believe in Jesus Christ and his representatives on earth, without qualification and anonymous criticism?

Please allow me to answer.
I care because the Mormon Church affects my life and the lives of those I love in a constant, direct, and intimate manner. THAT gives me ample standing.
I care because I care about ideas and the quality of ideas. Ideas matter. Their impacts on real human beings are profound. I am a member of the human race and thus am subject to ideas held, promulgated, and enforced by other members of the human race. THAT gives me ample standing.
I need no more be an active committed member of the Mormon Church to have standing to comment on the quality of Mormon ideas than I need be an active committed Muslim to have standing to comment on the quality of Muslim ideas.

No need to get huffy about it. Perhaps you are letting this anonymous crusade color your thinking.
Almost everyone else urges anonymity for safety's sake. As to believing in Jesus, absolutely. As to
believing in arms of flesh without reservation? No, I will retain my free agency on that one and apply
the test of righteous judgment to what I hear. My thinking has not been done.
Quit being such a curmudgeon.

So, to summarise your logic:
1. In order comment on the church, you must have "standing" (whatever that's supposed to mean).
2. You only have "standing" if you are a believer and support the Brethren (I love the capital-B here). You must also uphold your covenants.
Now:
3. Moksha posts anonymously.
Therefore:
4. Moksha is not a believer. He also does not uphold his covenants.
5. Moksha does not have "standing".
6. Moksha must not comment on the church.
This is simply impeccable logic.

I don't get that at all from Moksha's posts, and definitely not from this one. He said "To me, the Gospel of Jesus is for everyone regardless of their political stripe." I'm guessing you more or less agree with his take on BCspace's attitude.

You're a lawyer. You're admitted to the California bar.
What kind of ethics have you? Making personal attacks upon persons with real names -- all anonymously? Last time I looked, a judgment of defamation is grounds for discipline by the State Bar. Yet, your anonymous posts protect you!!!
Have some courage. Post with your real name.
