I'm really shutting down this computer now. If I don't I won't get to my garden and scrapbooking. That's far more enjoyable than this thread. I mean it this time!

I'd like to address just a couple of more issues as a follow up to our exchanges here before I shut this computer down. Believe it or not, I actually do have a life beyond this board and if I don't get this stuff outta my gut, I won't move on with my day.

With regards to Shades statement about "anger". As I have stated publicly on this board, I can count on the fingers of less than one hand when I've ever become angry on a board and those instances were not on this board. Frankly, there is nothing on a board like this worth "anger" on my part.

I do freely admit to disappointment and feeling insulted in this situation.

As anyone can clearly see, I took great pains to make every mod action fully transparent, and if you could see the mod forum you would see one instance where I asked Shades to monitor one thread where I was a participant. You would also see a great many posts wherein I asked Shades to take a look at something because I was uncertain if it were "kosher or not kosher". On the board you will see where I stated that I'd ask Shades to look at a thread perhaps more than once.

How much more careful should a moderator be?

With regards to speaking as a man. Are moderators not permitted to speak as a man? In the series of exchanges regarding the last mod action I took, Liz told Infymus to kiss her ass. Are we not permitted to do so? And if we are, how does posting stridently indicate lack of neutrality on my part? I listed the 9 moderator actions that I took. Do they lack neutrality or do they support Shades guidelines, polices and previous actions that he himself took?

Scottie, what you fail to understand here is that I don't care if people "like" me or not. I post as I see fit be it stridently, topically or even humorously. What I care about in this situation is the bomb that I referred to.

Once Shades spoke to me of his PM box filling up with nothing but complaints. Do you know what I did? I wrote him a few chatty PM's so he didn't have to look at complaints. Looking back on that, I would have thought that an opportune time for him to take me aside and say something to the effect "Ya know what, Vick? I have to tell you, I'm getting complaints about you. It's not that you lack neutrality or haven't been careful in your mod actions, but people just don't like your style as a poster."

You see? That's all it would have taken for me to initiate either an apology to others or my own resignation. I infact asked Shades once in the mod forum if I should apologize to someone. Scottie, I can totally live with posters not liking my style and have done so for years online. I'm not a head nodder and I never will be. When I see something that I think could be challenged, I do it. If I think someone is being wronged, I'll defend them to the hilt. In this situation, you see me doing it for myself.

The thing too, is this. Moderators on here have no power except to "delete, move and split". Like I said from the start, a monkey with a computer could do it. There is nothing a moderator can do on this board in that regard, that cannot be undone. I can tell you that moderators have lost posts of others and also asked them to repost. So what could a mod possibly DO to anyone's posts that would or could concern anyone to the tune of "critical mass"? It simply doesn't make rational sense to me.

Even here on this thread, Shades states that he has not compared his list of complainers to the people who posted positively on this and the other thread. Does he care to know if people changed their perspectives regarding me? I should think so.

Anyway, before I whine any further, thanks for hearing me out.

Fair enough. Like I said, I PM'd Shades with what I pervceived as a problem. I will fully admit to being wrong about that.

You have made some really good points here, Jersey Girl. Now that you mention it, you did post many times asking for guidance on a specific post.

I think the bottom line is that, even though you have acted appropriately as a moderator, people just have a really hard time seperating the "man" from the "mod". You do tend to have an abrasive posting style, which I would assume comes from being a Jersey native?? :)

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from when I sent Shades my PM. You have made some really good points on this thread.

Thank you for your willingness to dialogue out in the open. As for an "abrasive" posting style, I can think of numerous instances wherein my posting style was compassionate/empathetic/helpful as well as many instances where I challenged the words of posters who likely wished for their comments to go unchallenged even when their sole goal was to damage to others. If that's "abrasive", I completely own it.

There are a few outstanding comments on this thread I need to address so as not to leave any loose ends regarding these events.

Since I'm back, for now, I'll just comment on this uncomfortable thread and say that Jersey Girl is my bud. I like her.

The only moderator I ever had a problem with was Sam.

But this is an in-house issue, not to be decided by the peanut gallery. I trust Shades will do the right thing.

Thanks for your positive comments, GoodK. Since I checked here last, that "confidence" rating has gone up yet again.

That's true. The poll shows 82% for reinstatement. In an earlier post, Shades wrote:

Shades wrote:I'm not concerned with pleasing people who are already pleased.

I'm not certain where that leaves the 82% who are aren't pleased with the monkey's untimely death.

The monkey did not die but the monkey did lose power.

I'm sorry, but I lean towards the defrocking at this point. Shades, thank you for the information provided. Jersey, you should still hang around here, even if you are not a mod.

This case is dismissed.

Thank you all who have contributed.

Holy Moly! What's to moderate here except the correct placement of threads into their various glories and clamping down on references to male anatomy? I'm quite sure some of the mods can't stand me (personally or my opinions), but I've had nothing to complain about.
