There were several reasons I left, BCSpace. What the Isaiah passage seemed like at the time was a confirmation of my query as to whether or not Mormonism was true. It felt like an answer to my prayer, not the sole reason I left.
Ah! So there ARE other reasons. The thread title is 'Why I left" so I don't see how it was unreasonable for me to think that this evangelical chestnut was your reason. That you are misleading us is exactly what I expected seeing as how this is just the same old sob story that everyone else tells.
You are a rude man. I have no obligation to answer any question you may ask nor do I feel the need to justify my actions to you. I will entertain no more of your nonsense.
You're just angry because I won't scratch your itching ears. I will continue to hold your feet to the fire on Isaiah. It must feel awful to know that your scriptural justification runs contrary to scripture, unless of course that wasn't your real reason in which case you've been caught in a lie.
BC, you are so giddy to be self-righteous that your reading comprehension skills have dropped to an elementary level.
KA never said in her OP that the scriptural reference was her ONLY reason for leaving. She said that it was a pivotal point in her decision making.
You're holding HER feet to the fire on Isaiah? Considering that this is simply a case of her interpreting the scripture one way, and you interpreting it another, you're doing a pretty piss poor job. You have also failed to give your interpretation. The only thing you have done is stated that her interpretation was wrong.
How so? The LoF chestnut is dead. What else you got?
Denial is not just a river in Egypt.
Are you going to elaborate on the Isaiah issue or was that just part of the sham?
While I think they are incorrect and really do not understand the history of Israel's development of Monotheism, the two Isaiah issue and so on most , if not all Christians understand the passage the way KA did.
You really are an ass, BC. Even Nehor was sympathetic to KA's point of view.
Because I've dealt with this type of sob story before. I've read her blog. It's no different than any other. The basis she gave was incorrect, just an excuse to justify her actions.
It seems more important that you tell yourself this in order to avoid your own cognitive dissonance. But people really do leave the Church because they stop believing it, not because of some sin or not being able to keep up with the high expectation. Does that threaten you?
